Upholstery\dash question
Hello everyone im new to this site, and I have a 1966 442 that I am totally customizing, but being respectful to the original look. Anyways I have the original dash but it has been ripped so its just the foam. And I cant Upholster the dash because of the contours of the dash. I have talk to some guys that do fiberglass and they said that you cant fiberglass on top of foam and it would be to hard. My question is there any thing that I can do. Any suggestions would really help me.
Thanks,
Conrad

Make a whole new dash from sheetmetal and just put your own style to it. It doesn't nessessarily have to look exactly like the old dash at all and you can have a much nicer and cleaner look. When your done shaping and cutting the holes out for the instruments then you can either paint it or powder coat it. Fiberglass in old cars isn't my kind of thing and I wouldn't do it but if you like that kind of look and all then go right ahead, it's not a bad thing at all it's whatever you like since it's your car.
Either do that or I guess you can try and find a dash from another car and get measurements and see if it fits, etc. I don't know if there is places that make original dashs' for the 442.
Maybe someone else here has a better idea!www.streamlineautocare.com

Troglodyte the whole governs race is such a roller coaster ride. Before i got the 442 i was looking at my friends dads 65 GTO, but he wouldn't sell it to me. its on of those cars that can be restored to original condition pretty easy and my buddy has no interest in even touching it kind of sad since its his dads first car. and it has the 389 in her.

Welcome Stumpy, Its funny how many of us have been down the same path as far as cars go. I had a red 66-442,white buckets, factory tach, and big factory vaccum gauge on the console. An absolute perfect car ,but, It was my first automatic and I got tired of that in 6 months. I too traded for a corvette,1965 327-350hp 4speed-both tops.If the 442 had been a 4 speed I would have kept it .Someone must have some good restoration parts for your olds. Welcome Aboard.

Hey! Troglodyte & Bob Parmenter I didn’t want to say anything before when the gov race was mentioned probably cause of the fear that you could have been blue. And that would equal out to no help . But I shore hope that Rossi wins. Oh and thanks Swifster good link, I think I found what im looking for.

Hey Stumpy....to paraphrase Churchill...........if you arent a Democrat when youre young you have no heart, and if youre not a Republican when youre older, you have no brains.
Thank you Roger. .
