    NY registration, anyone? fenders?exhaust?

Wondering if anyone is familiar with the NY registration process.
Are fenderless cars a problem? DO they register it by year of the block?

    Thanks guys,
    Jordan

If you register a homebuilt car in Maine It's titled as the year you apply for a serial number. You need receipts for the majority of the parts to prove you didn't build it from stolen parts. It has to conform to current laws. Seat belts, catalytic converter, two tail lights and directionals. A Lot of stuff that's not required on antique cars.
We don't have titles for cars more than 15 years old. When I sell a car to a title state they require a current valid registration certificate and a notorized bill of sale signed by the person whose name is on the registration. I tried it with an expired registration and they wouldn't accept it. That's how the title companies work. You have to send them a bill of sale for your car. They register it and send you the registration and the notorized bill of sale. Your state can then issue a title They charge about $350 for this service. There's a limit to how many cars I can sell without a dealers license So I can't get into the title business. If you check in Hemmings or the Old Cars Value Guide you will find ads for the title companies. If you buy an old title you'll have a useable serial number but you have to run it through one of these guys to get a useable title.

Just one comment about the Alabama title route. I did this several years ago and had no problem. Since that time however, my state will no longer accept them for a title transfer to AZ. You might want to check before you spend the money.
I've NEVER seen a car come from the factory that couldn't be improved.....
