    channeling or not

i was wondering if any body has any info about when you are building a chassis if you made it like 1 inch lower in the middle of the chassis where the body sits would it be channeling the body to the frame or would it even work out.
i was also wondering if any body has any useful info on building the chassis. thank

Just don't channel (Let's say a gen II camaro) 4" if "U" "R" 6' tall. HEHEHE moral of the story ........ "Always check headroom B4 the drop !!

Not as big a consideration in an older car with more headroom, but still worth checking out, depending on the type of seats you plan to install.

Richard is correct as usual. From a customizers terminology point of view lowering the middle of the chassis as you suggested would be called Z-ing the frame as opposed to channeling the body over the frame. Hope my diagram works.

Of course, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong!

Yup, I was followin' you. Just reflecting on my own predicament with body / chassis modification...... (which I think is under control for now).
Kind of an apples and oranges comparison I know but, the subject kinda' brought back thoughts of the lump on my head from low clearance. HEHEHE

I problee' coulda' squeaked by with the 4" channel, but I woulda' had to dump the nice spring and upholstered seats for racing seats (aluminum buckets), and I wouldv' had to lay them back soz' my head wuz' under the halo far enough. That's the perfect set up for my Son Jeff (He always has his seats laying back too far). But I like to see where I'm goin' so it's a 1 1/2" channel for me. Hey just think of ALL that extra trunk space I'll have now.
