What determines the "year"?
Another question from the novice here...
What exactly determines the year of the vehicle when I register it?
I understand that if I find a '32 sitting in a barn and restore/rebuild it using the original parts then it is still a '32.
But, what if I bought a Cobra kit from somewhere like Factory Five and then bought a 460 crate motor for it. What then determines the "year"?
I guess the question boils down to this - how does one build and power a car and make it "pre-emissions"? All the crate motors I see from Ford Racing say they can't be used on emissions controlled vehicles.
I'm so confused...
Thanks for all the info!

It depends on the state that it is registered in. Some states require it be titled as the current year, or assembled. Some states allow the year the car "looks like". Some states waive certain regulations because the builder made less than ,say, 500 units. CHECK WITH YOUR DMV!!!

Shaggy, only problem is some states have made those titles illegal, Cali started that, saying that those title companies caused them to loose millions in revenue due to a car not being titled correctly. So if you are going to use them make sure the company is not already being sued by states or the process is not illegal in your state already.1949 Plymouth Club Coupe Still in pieces.
