This may be a stupid question
I am new to hot rodding and want to purchase a 34 Chevy 5 window coupe. It has been sectioned and I have no clue what that means. So if someone could explain this to me that would be great. Also I know these cars had wood in them as framing and they tend to rot out. Where is the general locations of the framing.

"sectioning" is a method of custom body work where there is actually two cut lines that go around the entire body of the car and a "section" (usally 2-3" or so) is removed from the body to give the body a lower look from the lowest pertion of the body to the higest portion of the body.
If done properly it is a very nice looking mod

Welcome to the boards. Well they answered the sectioning question for you but not the wood.... Anyways the wood is loacted all in the doors and around the windows. Sometimes if it's real bad it can a bit of a pain to replace. It will also be all the way about the cab, around the rear and rear side glass.... For the sectioning, when they do that they normally have to bring the floor... down... I think it's down, lol. But I think you said it's already done, not what you were going to do am I right?www.streamlineautocare.com

Thanks for the help
Thanks for all the help. The pic and description pretty much so cleared it up for me.
As for the wood in the car, wouldnt you think most of it would have been replaced when it was sectioned. Also I take it it would be replaced with metal instead of wood.
If anybody is interested in seeing the 34 I want to purchase Ill start another post with some pics of it. It would be great if you guys could throw in some input on the car. I dont know anything about street rods and hot rods, just know about muscle cars and corvettes.

For your info, sectioning has nothing to do with the floor. Compare it to a top chop, only through the center of the body.
Lowering the floor over the frame is channeling.

Henry, when I was looking at one of my books it said when sectioning you have to either raise the floor or lower it because your bringing the entire body closer together or shortening it... Anyways, 68 Chevelle, when they sectioned it then most likely they put new wood in or maybe even metal. Could be metal but you never know until you look. Either one is ok and doesn't really matter because if you keep the car dry then no worries about the wood rotting out again for years to come.....www.streamlineautocare.com

34 Chevy
I was on here about three to four months ago talking about this 34 chevy 5 window coupe that I wanted to buy. People asked me to post some pictures of it so they could give me some help on the condition of the car and basically if it would be worth buying for a Street Rod. I never got a chance to get some pics of it but the guy has a pic of it on his website so here is the link.
I had talked to him about it and he said he would let me know how much he wanted for it. Although he wasnt quite sure if he wanted to sell it. I never got a price but he said he bought it for 1K and he has a new cowl and firewall for it.
Also some information on my "car building" skills. All I have ever built was a 68 Chevelle. So I know muscle cars but not a whole lot about Hot Rods/ Street Rods and I know of course there is a difference.
