The first Jesse James bike posted is his own bike he built it for himself so he could take a vacation to daytona and have a cool ride he kept it, and there is no way one can foret Billy Lane of Choppers INC. Oh wiat he builds a better bike than both places as voted by american iron and Big twins two of the most world known Harly mags, yet ever time discovery channel offers him a show he shoots them down so hes not as famous. why does he shoot htem down, simple I asked him that two years ago while I was in florida on a detail for the army, "I would rather build bikes my one true love than be on some dumb &*^ tv show wasting time and loosing money."When the going gets tough the tough say, 'HUG MY NUTS!!!"

I forgot to talk about one other thing Jesse James does all his Fab work except pressure testing the fule tanks and paint and crome while OCC sends 90 % of there stuff out or has it orderd in from mass producers dont get me wrong both push some tasty Bikes but when it comes to quality and originality would you reather have somthing from a cat. or a bike that was built by hand from ther frame up. And two other good companys are bourgets bike works and exile."When the going gets tough the tough say, 'HUG MY NUTS!!!"

Personally I find it all kind of amusing. I 've been riding on and off for 30+ years, an also do the occasional customers Harley in the shop (usually for friends I can't shoo away).
I usually try to do Bike week up in Phoenix every year, and when bikes really started getting hot about 7-8 years ago a lot of first time riders started showing up. Now when I go up there it seems like every year in an attemp to make their bikes unique every one is riding the same style bike. What starts as something unique one year (wether in good taste or not) seems to become the fashion the following year. My own bike is 31 years old and built in the same style I was doing in the late 60s/early 70s (without the god awful rigid chopper front end) and it's one of the more unique bikes there. The only real difference I see between the Bikes and Hot Rods in this respect is that the time from unique to trend to fashion is much shorter with motorcycles (likely because you can still use you original basic bike rather than starting from scratch to do major mods every time). One of the reasons I enjoy Sturgis is that the bikes come from across the country rather than it being a regional event and there are truely a large number of DIFFERENT styles represented.
I do enjoy the shows on Discovery showing the fabricatrion on these bikes, but my intrest mainly lies in the mechanical aspects rather than the cosmetic.I've NEVER seen a car come from the factory that couldn't be improved.....

Yes...
I also like all the shows that have been cropping up on cable TV... For the fans of American Chopper (OCC) you might be interested in knowing that Discovery has a new program in the making that will be called American Hot Rod... It will feature Boyd Codington's shop and the first project is a Boydster 2... I hope that American Hot Rod will help to create the same type of excitement in the Hot Rod world that showes like American Chopper and the Jessie James, Roger Borgett, and Arlen Ness specials have created in the Bike World... There are lots of car oriented shows on cable but I think that the current trend for reality TV is some of what has made American Chopper such a success...
BTW... Do you guys ever catch a program called Rolling Art... It aires about mid-day on the weekends in my market... Definetely worth a look if you get the chance...

Opps...
Don't know what I did to make it post twice...
Rolling Art is basically a show for Hot Rod and Custom fans... They usually have several segments kind of like 20/20 or 60 minutes... Each segment will have a slightly different focus on the hobby... They might do a story on Andy Brizio and his T-shirt artwork and the next section might be about the history of the Salt Flats and feature Craig Breedlove then will show footage of the Mooneyes Yokohama show in Japan (Yes the Japaneese are into Hot Rods too), then they will interview a industry celebrity like Jesse James or Chip Foose at the Peterson Automotive Meseum...
BTW... Just for those of you who don't know Jesse was employed by Boyd Coddington and worked on hot rods and customs long before there ever was a West Coast Choppers...
The best way to check it out for yourself on the net is to use the link below and check out their web site... Heck there is even a programing schedule so you can check to see when the show is on-air in your area... This one might make you want to sign up for cable!!!

Streets, satelite? or are you the type of person that would rather not watch any tv at all and just enjoy the great outdoors? I was that way too when I was living outside of town. Seemed like as long as my house was outside city limits and didn't have another house right next door, I didn't watch tv, spent most of the day outside doing whatever, now that I am back in town, hardly ever go out.
But there are more options that cable, and for 35g's they better give you free cable for a few years.1949 Plymouth Club Coupe Still in pieces.

Great TV Weekend...
It was Bike Week on the Travel Chanel all last week ... On Sunday the Discorery Channel aired the first edition of American Hot Rod featuring Boyd Coddington and Monday was the American Chopper marathon on Discovery... Last night Discovery also aired the Biker Build-off series featuring several of the Bike worlds biggest names including Billy Lane who was mentioned earlier in this thread...
Did any of you guys catch American Hot Rod?.. If so what did you think?... Below is a photo of the car that they built for the show, the Boydster III...

Coddington's painter was right, there is a reason you don't see many Blue and Yellow paint schemes running around.
Other than that, it was an interesting show. Would rather see a hands on builder featured myself. I sure wish they would have mentioned where the windshield was fabricated at and what materials where used. I need a couple pieces of custom glass made myself.
