Yeah Ken, great idea. Then I wouldn't have egg all over my face. How do you go back and edit a title?
When I used to see that someone paid $ 10 or $20.000 for a propaint job, it was hard to imagine, but I can now understand completely. That stuff is out of my league, plus, if I ever got a mark on it..................
Jack, (Henry Rifle) said something in his post that really hit home with me. He basically said that he had gotten the body to the point where he just didn't care to go on anymore.......it is good enough. I understand that completely, and I am able to say those same words. I know there are flaws in the finish, but I accept them and just don't care. Otherwise, I will be spending the rest of my life trying to make every little bracket perfect, instead of getting to actually put gas in the tank and use the darned thing.
This car is going to Daytona in November.........this time I mean it.

Oh, it looks like Dan is moving ahead on his again. He has spent a few nights (late nights) working at the shop, and got his electronic speedometer setup ready to install, and he built the underdash support to hold his steering column. A few weeks ago he built the latch setup and doorgo's to pop the louvered rear cover. I think he is ready to finish that car finally too........he has had enough.Last edited by Itoldyouso; 05-14-2007 at 12:44 PM.

I sure hope you don't feel like you have egg on your face. You have done such a great service on this site. I wonder how many have started projects because of your thread or motivated them to go back to work on there projects?

Thanks Ken. Nah, everybody has been very kind about not taking me to task for "slightly" overshooting my budget. Who is the member whose tag line is "its going to cost more and take lots longer than you thought," or words to that effect? That should be etched into the concrete of every garage floor.

Don---Now its time for me to jump back into the fray, kick you while you're down, and jump around saying "I told you so" (see post #19, away back when). It's just horrible what everything to do with paint costs. I have over $3000 in the paint on the roadster pickup, and that was with me doing the spraying!!!---When I see all the kids over on the HAMB talking about spraying their cars with Rustoleum, I kinda quiver all over, but I can certainly see their reasoning!!!Old guy hot rodder

D*** Brian, you WOULD remember post # 19. I thought I erased that.
Numerous times in recent weeks I have said to myself " you know, there IS something to be said for the rat rods..........sure a lot less work" (and $) Guess what the NEXT project is going to be? Rustoleum is on sale at Ace Hardware........$ 12.99 a gallon.

Very cool rides. I really like the look of the T, and that bike is right on, Seems like a lot of our members have a car and bike too. Looks like you are getting close on the T.

So are you still going to send the body out for pre-fab Don?
I was wondering if it was going to be a pick-up box rear, or a turtle deck, or something else?"Sunshine, a street rod and a winding beautiful Ozarks road is truely Bliss!"

No Brick, it's just going to be a bobtail, with just a fuel tank back there, a lot like the one Ron is showing above on his red T. I am pretty sure at this point that I am going to have my buddy finish the body and paint it, probably gloss black. I will finish up the fiberglassing and rough in the bodywork, but he is really a very good bodyman and will do it much better than I could, especially without a spray booth.
Now that it has gotten to be closing time at the complex, and the rain stopped for the day (I hope) I'm heading over there now to prime, and maybe paint some more stuff. Last two days we have had torrential rains here, so I have been held down, but it looks like it has stopped.
Might have some more pictures of gray stuff tonight.

Don, have you tried to put any reducer into your primer? I would try to add a little reducer. Is your mixing ratio 4:1 on the primer or 1:1? If 1:1 then add about 1:1:1/2 reducer into that and see if it helps any. I don't know what kind of primer you are using but if it's PPG then use DT895 for the reducer.www.streamlineautocare.com
If you wan't something done right, then you have to do it yourself!
Ok gang. It's been awhile. With everything that was going on taking care of my mom's affairs and making a few needed mods to the Healey, it was June before anything really got rolling on this...
