Hey Don,
If you're going to paint the body black, have you considered some flames or scallops in the fusion orange? Maybe with a lime green pinstripe outline...Jim

FMX, sounds like a good idea. I shot some primer tonight (new batch) and it sprayed just like it should. If I run into more problems I will give that a try, thanks.
Flames huh ? You guys must have ESPN, I was taking a little break tonight, sitting in my pondering chair, and I sort of had the same thoughts. There is a really good striper, custom painter in town, Pat Cleland, and he has done some super flame jobs on local cars. I might go see him once the body is painted.
The rain stopped tonight, and it was perfect weather to shoot some primer and paint, so I did. As I mentioned above, I bought all new supplies at the paint store the other day, and the new epoxy primer shot on perfectly. It was ready to top coat in about a half hour, and I got most of the front end shot in the orange, and scuffed and reshot the front axle and wishbones. They came out nice this time. I also got the backing plates, spindles, steering arms, motor mounts, etc. done in the orange.
I also shot lots of the black parts tonight, like the shock mounts, battery box, master cylinder and brake pedal. The only thing that I need to redo is the front spring before I can mount the whole front suspension. I just am not happy with the spring, so I am going to bead blast it back to bare metal and start over again. I plan to do that and also paint the rear axle tomorrow night.
Right now I have painted parts hanging off of everything in the shop, drying. Tonights progress will put me very close to being able to start bolting lots of stuff to the frame, even the engine and tranny.
Here are some pictures of the parts I painted tonight.

Nice Don. Almost ready to start assembly. The suspense is killin me.
Freshly painted parts hanging on almost freshly painted parts. It's amazing how less clutted the shop seems after you assemble a car that's spread out all over the place.I may not be good but I sure am slow

Oh man, you called that right. With 6 cars all in pieces it is like a disaster. Once I see the my parts shelf starting to get bare I will know I am getting close.
In the meantime, I am tripping over stuff all over the place.

Given the price of automotive paint, the noise these "weird wind chimes" will make is going to sound a lot like "gold Doubloons" or "Peices of eight" banging together-----Old guy hot rodder

That is a great orange, on my old cpu it almost looks like burnt sienna. Very cool, you will be throwing some parts onto the ride for sure, looking good Don."Sunshine, a street rod and a winding beautiful Ozarks road is truely Bliss!"

Ooooh, the excitement is almost too much to stand. Quick, Don, bolt something together before we all die of anticipation. I like that orange so much I'm starting to vascilate on the colors I've planned for my roadster...Jim

I almost had windchimes trying to hang up the axle with one hand last night and using the other hand to tie a knot in the wire. Working on cars is quite a workout sometimes.
Ok, you want stuff bolted on? How about this?

It poured rain tonight, and I couldn't paint anything, like the front spring, so I took the time to start bolting parts on. Got the battery box and battery, fuel pump and filter (still not sure what I am going to do to the filter to make it blend in better), the taillights and license plate light, brake pedal and master cylinder, transmission cooler, front shock mounts, and finally, the front axle assembly.
I can't hang it until the spring is done, but at least it is mocked up in place. I also have some chrome front heim ends coming for the wishbones, so I can't bolt those down till they come.
But it really feels good to finally see some stuff going on it. By the weekend I should have even more painted and hung, if this weather front goes away.
Oh, one more picture. Here is where I have been dining for the past few months. Isn't working on cars glamorous?

You bolted a cat onto your frame? Just kidding (first pic)
I'm getting excited. It's looking like a car already. The black and orange you chose make a nice clean contrast. Lookin good Don.I may not be good but I sure am slow
Getting closer on this project. What a lot of work!
