Thanks Bob, I read page two and it says they have a diode kit to rectify the problem. My distributor came with no instructions, it was one of my purchases at Daytona last year from some vendor there. I wish I knew if it needed a resistor , but I guess I just have to try running it and see if it diminishes performance with it in there. If if does, I'll just pop it out of the circuit. I have been running the car on full 12 volts, but was afraid to do that for any extended period.
JR, yep, you shoulda seen the smoke coming from mine !I guess that diode kit keeps the current from going to a dead short ground. I like the way this Powermaster cranks the engine, but I've had my fair share of issues with it.
BTW, today we got a whole lot accomplished. Don and I worked on his T and Dan worked on finished up my grille shell. He has about 30 hours in it already, but it is finally done, and he did a terrific job on it. He had to shorten and section it to get it to fit well, and he bead rolled two inner panels to fill in where the old ones were too small to cover the sides of my radiator. He really did a nice job on it, and now it is ready to sandblast and paint.
Don and I did a bunch of those little jobs that need done, like finishing up the brake job on the rear axle, installing his progressive linkage and Lokar kickdown and throttle linkage. Dan had fabbed up some front shock mounts for us, so we got those painted and installed and he now has shocks on the front too. Even got his skull shift knob installed.I think that was his favorite part.
Tomorrow night we are going to paint his radiator shroud and my windshield frame. The glass shop removed the old glass for me so I could do that, and then I will take it back to them to have new tinted safety plate installed. The old glass was in good shape, but was not safety plate. I stepped on the other half of the windshield one day and broke the glass in that half, and it went into a million sharp pieces. No way I was going to chance using 80 year old glass that shatters like that.
Here are some pictures of what we got done today.

Nice Job
I'm chugging along on rust suppression, while you guys blast away on assembly! I'm envious and impressed, but I am also in my truck for the long haul, so keep up the good work it's inspiring me! P.S. if Dan gets bored send him out to California for some brake modification work" "No matter where you go, there you are!" Steve.

I had one of those skull shifter handles that had glow in the dark eyes. LOL When is Dan's body coming back from paint....can't wait to see it on the frame.

Just don't use silicon on a trans pan. That sand will really gum things up.

Silicon/silicone . . . the "e" makes a difference!

Thanks Mark. I think the shift knob and his aoogha (sp) horn are his favorite parts of the whole car.

Beautiful! Ultra clean looking. The monochromatic color scheme with white accents is really nice.Jim

Clean
Don and Don Jr. nice job. Did both of you start with new clean frames? I'm working on the chasis and rust removal now, and was looking for some pointers on preping and cleaning the frame. Did you spray the gold on your frame, or send out, Don? Steve." "No matter where you go, there you are!" Steve.

Thanks JR. God willing, it looks like we might be rolling into Daytona in something other than the family cars this year!!At least we got registered.
Thanks also Steve. Yeah, Dan and I laid up and built both frames using 2 x3 3/16 wall rec tubing. The three of us did all the painting except for the bodies. Glad that phase is over, I am still coughing up different colored paints.Maybe now my sinuses can get back to normal.
If you can do it, I would strongly recommend taking the frame and suspension pieces to a sandblaster and letting them do their thing. To be honest, I should have done that, but we elected to sandblast our own stuff. Probably would have cost about the same, and we wouldn't have had to put up with all the dust and mess. Not the best stuff to be breathing. If you do that, etch prime it immediately though, as it will start rusting very fast.

Your sons T really looks sharp, love the blue paint and the white trim. A very sharp looking rod, looks to be a lot of fun. Now that we have seen the sparkling blue one, let's see an update on yours. Caught it on another site and it really looks good, especially the copper wheels. Looks like you only have a little bit more to do on it to get it on the road.
BTW, hope you enjoy a sunny and warm Daytona while I'm be freezing by butt of in PA.Maybe next year.
Bob
A good friend will come and bail you out of jail....but a true friend will be sitting next to you saying..."Damn....that was fun!

Don, we've had a beautifull fall. It has stayed relatively mild right up untill this week, with daytime temps around 65 to 70 degrees F at mid day. I was still driving the Wild Canary downtown on "chores" last week!!! The leaves have been really pretty, although we haven't had any frost yet. This week the temperatures have dropped to about 55 F at mid day, falling to around 38-40F at night. I am in the middle of a big engineering contract for a feeder plant that makes parts for Toyota up here in Ontario, so I've been to busy to play at hot rodding. Every morning I come down to my office and fire up the computer, and the first thing I check is the progress that you and the boys are making. Some really marvelous building going on at your place.---You have something to be proud of.---BrianOld guy hot rodder
My grandfather, mom's side, drove a 39 Plymouth coupe when I was about 4 or 5 and I thought it was pretty cool and I loved the tail fins on the 49 Cadillac. I drew cars when I was in the 5th and 6th...
How did you get hooked on cars?
