Don,
I don't blame you for being upset. It sounds like you have it in the right place now.

Yep. Sometimes it's tough to deal with friends and family; they will take advantage of your good nature...
Jeez! You had already done all the hard work. All he needed to do was finish-sand it and shoot it; easy money...
Hopefully, youve got 'em on track now.Last edited by J. Robinson; 10-02-2007 at 11:06 AM.

I feel really bad because Dan had a bad feeling about taking the bodies to him in the first place. We took him to dinner and talked about what we wanted done and our time problem. Dan told me at the end of dinner that he didn't feel the guy really wanted to do the work, but I insisted he would do us good.
Live and learn. I'm a firm believer in fate, so I think this was supposed to go this way and that we will ultimately get a better job. But I am disappointed that he did me this way.

Don---Its disappointing to be let down by a business, and its DAMNED DISAPPOINTING to be let down by someone you considered a friend, and that you have done favours for in the past. I hope you do better at the second shop.---BrianOld guy hot rodder

Yeah, I'm calmed down a little now, and will just chalk it up to experience I guess. Sure glad I decided to go by and check on it today though. This could have really messed us up for Daytona.

I can't remember if this has come up before, but when your son is spending all that money, do you ever tell him you car was originally meant for him.
Also I have a painter buddy, but he refuses to paint anymore, it can make you just as mad. At least he tell's you up front that you can leave your car, but it will never get painted.

Yep, I did mention to him that the T was originally destined to be his ride, and that is why I gave him the second T for Xmas. (guilt ) At this point I'm not sure if I did him a favor or not as he has been dumping tons of money into it, but you have to have some vices, right?
BTW, the new body shop called my Son to ask a question about his paint job, and they told him they were already sanding and priming mine. Sounds real promising that we won't have a repeat of the last 3 weeks.

Sorry to hear about the body shop Don.
I'm going thru it right now too. Dropped my 76 PU off to have the frame checked/straightened if necessary......was supposed to take a couple of days been 3 weeks and I'm still waiting.I've NEVER seen a car come from the factory that couldn't be improved.....

Isn't it amazing Mike that this happens so often? Sorry to hear about your slow progress too. My next door neighbor at the shop was just telling me that he had a LeBaron convertible that he took to a friends shop for work, and he told him there was no particular rush. ( BIG MISTAKE ) Four months later he hadn't heard anything, so he went by and the car was nowhere to be found. His buddy said "I thought you came by and picked it up."
Long story short, his buddy parked it on the lot next to the shop and the city came and towed it for being there illegally. Now it gets worse. The tow company got a new title to the car and sold it to someone else, and it is legally that mans car now. Plus, his buddy just died, so he has nobody to go after. Unbelievable but true.
We only have 44 days left to get both cars done for Daytona, so today Don and I worked on getting the rear axle reassembled (new bearings, seals, gaskets, etc) and got the radius rods mounted. He had an early gig, so he had to leave, but is off all day tomorrow, so we plan to get it up on wheels all the way, and also get the engine and tranny installed. We would like to fire it up by next weekend, and pretty much have to do that to make our schedule. My body is supposed to be done this week, and I am really anxious to see how it turns out.
Here are some pictures of how the car looks tonight.

Looking good Don, can't wait to see the engine and trans in the frame. What is going to be the contrast color if any?

Thanks Brad. Not a lot of contrast. Interior is white, and engine has a lot of polished stuff on it, but he wanted it monochromatic pretty much. He is going to run wide whites and '40 Ford hubcaps, so that will provide some contrast. I'm accustomed to painting suspension and stuff a contrasting color, but he just wanted shiny stuff and blue. If it ends up being too much blue he can get more things chromed later on, I guess.
Dan and I were urging him to do red, but he insisted on the blue. Now that I am seeing it I like it really well, especially with the chrome/ polished aluminum against it.
