Thanks, and I'm happy things worked out for your Uncle. I have some things in the fire, but I just don't want to seriously start looking until I get some things out of the way . (Like this T project ) As I mentioned, I keep my life pretty simple, so I can survive for a while. I'm starting to enjoy this being out of work thing, maybe too much. The rest feels good.

In the meantime, I got some of the stuff I ordered from Summit today, and bolted them on the engine tonight. Got the water pump, alternator, water neck, etc. The only thing I couldn't install was the harmonic balancer......found out Chevy's (this one anyway) don't have threads in the center of the crank to pull it into place with, so tomorrow I have to heat the harmonic balancer in boiling water for 15 minutes so it expands enough to hammer in place. Seems strange not to see a retaining bolt there, I guess it is a machine fit when you hammer it home?

Tomorrow I plan to do that, then start on my floor installation. Here are some pictures of the engine with the new stuff on it.

Don that engine is a work of art. I'd love to have that just sitting in my living room to look at, really just drool

Last week I quit my job. I now have a Temporary job, gone the way of independent contractor. The scary thing is my first is to be born in 18 days. But this job should become permanent and I will have my weekends free. I work about 60+ hours a week with a variable schedule for pennies have no time for my soon to be child or my cars(now my third love .

Really love the engine, good luck. Maybe next time I am in Florida visiting my sister in law we could come check out the cars.

Don, hey that engine looks terrific. I could use that in my 34, except it would make the 34 look terribly dull and might force me into spending 10 grand to re-paint it.

Maybe you should consider dressing engines for money instead of a hobby. Around here you'd get plenty of takers.

Thanks guys. The color is starting to grow on me. At first I liked it, then I started to not be so sure, but now that stuff is going on I think it will be fine. At this stage, I just want to get this thing on the street. It's been too many years between running rods.

I wondered about the PCV thing too, and am probably just going to run a push in breather. These Cal Custom covers only have the one hole, so that is the only thing I can do, I guess. I don't want to touch the other one to add anything.

Also found out after everything was all painted that there is NO dipstick hole drilled in the block. Being a marine engine, the original tube went into the bottom of the oil pan so you could suck out the old oil. That is pretty ugly, so I am going to tape off and drill a hole into the undrilled boss and add a normal pickup tube. I never thought to look before the engine was done up.

Won't be a big deal, just have to make sure no shavings get in the wrong places. The pan is still not bolted on, so I can isolate that area pretty well.

Don't you just love finding this stuff after the fact ?

Time to head to the shop and get a few more things done. I only have a few hours, one of the previous owners of our marina called me and wants to have dinner tonight. Sounds like he has something going that might be worthwhile talking about. Hope it isn't real soon, I have a car to finish.

Charlie, just wanted to tell you that you're pretty darned smart for picking up on that. I called Summit, and they had me check the part number on the box. Turns out it should have had a hole in each valve cover, one for the breather, one for the PCV. They issued a warranty return, and I sent them back today via FedEx. They are going to send two new ones (hopefully with two holes )

As a comment on Summit, these were bought last July by Dan for my birthday, but Summit was able to find the order and took them back 8 months after purchase date. I told them I really had never had a chance to look at them until just now, and they understood. Very good customer service on their part, I think.

I didn't get anything else done today on the T, my new air compressor showed up and I had to go pick it up at my old job, they had a forklift, and I didn't. I was tired of running out of air everytime we did sandblasting or something like it, so I bought a much bigger unit from Eaton Compressors. Hopefully this weekend we'll get that installed and get back to doing work on the T.
