Thread: Project $ 3 K Is Underway

I went to a local car show today and got lots of pictures. Normally, I end up taking only pictures of cars that interest me (fenderless hot rods mostly) but today I took pictures of lots of stuff that might have broader appeal to share with all of you.

I'm VERY slow posting, so please bear with me, it will take me some time to get all of these up.

First car is one I hoped would be there. It belongs to a friend of mine who built it in the late 60's and drove it to the first or second Street Rod Nationals in 1971. It is virtually unchanged in all those years, and shows some scars and bumps. However it is so cool because of being an unchanged survivor. I love these time capsules.

Then some guy came over and looked at my car and after shooting the breeze for a while he tries to tell me he is Dick LaHaie of Top Fuel fame. Yeah, sure like Dick LaHaie would come to this local show.

Actually, I'm kidding, it actually was him. He lives down here and has a gorgeous Merc custom. Paid $ 140,000 for it , so it better be nice.

Some of us who are a little older may remember this car. It was in 40 different magazines over the years and was built in 1951-55. I remembered it being in bronze, and the new owner confirmed that was the original color. The original owner was his best friend and he died in 85. The man who owns it now is getting ready to do some restoration on it, but has turned down $ 200,000.00 for it. He said there is no amount of money he would take. It is just so cool to see this car in person.

I tried taking pictures of this good looking little black T, but some big dog got in the way. Dog was bigger than my 23!

I also took some pictures of a VW Thing for Hotroddaddy.

And because I know Dave S loves rat rods so much, I took some just for him.
