Coker Tire - Great Service
I hope mentioning good treatment from a company is OK on the forum. I want to say thanks to Coker Tire. They provide classic tires like the wide whitewalls on my Studebaker. My car had Cokers on it when I got it and after a short while I noticed one of them was starting to split on the sidewall. I called the company and explained what happened and that I was not the original owner. Thier customer service rep said since I was not the original buyer, they would take care of it if I paid the shipping. I needed a tire right away, so I asked if I could buy one then send back the bad one and get a credit. That was early on a Monday morning, Tuesday when I got home from work there was a tire on my front porch! I had it installed and wrapped the bad one up and took it to UPS, now today, less than 10 days later I get an invoice from Coker showing a credit to my Visa card! The new tire cost me $135 plus shipping, they sent me a credit for $101.25 based on remaining tread. Now that is service! No receipt, not the original buyer and they still took great care of me.
If you are looking for classic style tires, give them a shot.

Yamaha of Santa Cruz screwed me over hardcore. I take my bike in with a blown tranny, it gets "fixed", I take it for a quick test ride at home, hit 4th gear, tranny locks up, 50' skidmark, and a whole lot more blown gears. Also, I had no neutral or first gear. After much thought and research and a little investigation, I decided the cause for the lack of first and neutral was a missing catch pin in the shift drum ratchet mechanism, and the lockup was due to a miss timing of the shift drum. I took it to the dealer, but they didn't believe my explination. The didn't believe there was a pin missing on the ratchet even though I showed them where it was supposed to be. And, they didn't believe me when I said 2 gears engaged at once. Even though I had no way of getting into first gear, I still managed to shear the teeth off. So, first gear obviously managed to engage at the same time as 4th. To top everything off, they finally agreed to pay for parts and labor the second time around, but I still had to pay for gaskets. Also, when I took the bike in the 2nd time, they asked me if they could use my shop manual. My bike has never run right since, it puts out a huge cloud of black smoke about 10-30 seconds after it starts up. I think some seals dried up while the bike sat for 6 months. I hate to be all negative, so I'll say one good thing about the shop: They put on a killer TT race.
How much did Santa have to pay for his sleigh? Nothing! It's on the house! .
