In a previous post you asked me whether my 37 has a tool compartment in the floor of the trunk......it does..in the rear section by the tailpan. The trunk floor replacement kit stops right at the edge of that tool compartment. As I recall, my dad fashioned a new tailpan from the decklid of a salvaged 65 Mustang. I will probably try to save that rather than spending a few hundred more dollars on a repro-tailpan and tool compartment.

Hey, with the tool comp't and tail pan, as long as it works, isn't rusted out and has the right shape, why spend the time as well as the money. At the rate you're "uncovering" projects, there has to be something more important

This is still tacky clear coat - done ~10 minutes before the photo. I also did some touch up on the RF fender, left hood top plus painted the steering-wheel to-column adapter. I have a wee bit more where I got some seam sealer on both of the rear fenders but it's on an inner edge so it might just not get done Edit:just did 'em anyhow!! The firewall turned out probably as good as any piece on the car - and will not need any more then a light buff to finishLast edited by IC2; 04-21-2008 at 12:13 PM.

For shame not working on the car this weekend - and I should talk - I got only an hour or so on mine as I had to maintain that relationship with my wife and do what dutiful husbands seem to have to suffer occasionally - a day "out shopping". But we went to buy some yard plantings to replace the ones the local deer population savor - another honey-do in the makingDave W

I had to add longer studs to the rear as the Billet Specialties wheels are a lot thicker - the fronts were fine. Not a bad job, just a bit mean to get the replacements in straight. I'd probably redrill, tap and use bolts if I was to do it again.Dave W

I feel like I'm on the home stretch - I hung the driver's door today and the passenger side is within an hour or so of going on
A baby step in the scheme of this thing - but at least it's starting to look "whole" again.
I have also discovered to my disgust that I'm a better mechanic then a body person (have to be diversity wise correct) but it still looks okDave W

The body went on this morning - and only three "aw s**ts" found so far and none of them are much. Fuel filter bracket needs to be shortened 3/4", remote MC fill needs a 45* AN fitting and 4 seat bolts need to be studs instead as the splash shields are in the way.
