Dave, I'll be watching for your results also. I'm just not impressed or "comfortable" with this optima! And since I haven't finished my battery box, I may just hold off for now.
Mike, yes I did start it....I was just jumping on myself before you had a chance...
I've never been too impressed with the Optima either, even though I've never owned one. Really expensive and usually only a 3yr warranty. That little Odyssey seems to have enough power plus it's really small so you can put it about anywhere you want. I like that!

Randy yes with all the pics , fun run and the 37 . !!!!!
Bobby, I have that fancy new firewall and I don't want the battery to obstruct the view....
Obviously, the '37 isn't going on the fun run tomorrow. I'm doing it in my 66 F100 shorty. The gas stations will love me for it! There's a 70% chance of rain but it's a rain or shine event.

Robert (35Fordcoupe), I was thinking passenger side for the battery because...well I guess because the original battery was towards that side....but maybe I should consider the driverside for wiring purposes...hmmm....I'll ponder that.
Will try to get some good pics tomorrow!

I like to think that I at least give you a chance! Am I wrong?

Like most who had / have an Optima, we thought the high price was warranted for the service delivered / promoted... Sadly it just hasn't lived up to the hype in my view! I really like the small package Dave has chosen, but I'm curious if it is sealed and being so small what the load ratings are? So some research to do and watching what happens with IC2's project.

Mike - it is a sealed AGM battery.

    Here's the scoop:

680 cranking amps for 5 seconds
595 cranking amps for 10 seconds
525 cranking amps for 20 seconds
    Short circuit current over 1800A
    17Ah
25 minute reserve capacity with 25amp load
    CCA - 220
Female brass terminal w/M6 SS bolt

    Here's the sales pitch
Better warranty - Limited 3- and 4-year full replacement warranty - not pro rata.
Longer service life - With 3-10 years of service life, ODYSSEY batteries save consumers time, money, and aggravation.
Longer cycle life - 70% longer cycle life compared to conventional deep cycle batteries - up to 400 cycles at 80% depth of discharge - high stable voltage for longer periods of time.
Longer shelf life - Can be stored on open circuit (nothing connected to the terminals) without the need for recharging up to 2 years or down to 12.00V, whichever occurs first.
Faster recharge - The highest recharge efficiency of any sealed lead battery on the market - capable of 100% recharge in 4 - 6 hours.
Mounting flexibility - Non-spillable design - can be mounted on any side in any position except inverted.
Vibration resistance - Design protects against high impact shock and mechanical vibration - a common cause of premature battery failure.
    Extreme temperature tolerant - Operating temperatures from -40oC (-40oF) to 80oC (176oF).
Totally maintenance free - No need to add water, ever! Drycell design with resealable venting system.
Improved safety - US Department of Transportation classified as a 'non-spillable' battery. No acid spills, no escaping gases.

If you do go with this battery, make sure its at a PC680T or MT as the normal purchased configuration is just an 'L' terminal for motorcycles though if you are using bolt on terminals, you can save a few bucks by ordering just the PC680.

Another that Roger Spears suggested is the XS Power 680 size. Virtually the same specs and size. I just happened to come on a 'super price' one day, which seems to be gone now

Ok, I must confess I bagged on the poker run yesterday. In my defense, it was raining (for many SoCalifornians, a sprinkle = "Storm Watch 2012!"). At 6:30am the 5 freeway was already plagued with accidents. The event was 50 miles away. The wipers on my truck start screeching under the dash after about 5 minutes (another item on my "fix-it" list). I would have enjoyed touring those 5 shops and meeting some new people who love cars but decided to save the gas and potential hassle of getting there.

YES! REALITY! What a concept... I don't blame you really! As the years pass I don't look forward to traffic of any type and the same goes for driving in the rain!

But I saw a clean shot in there for a brief moment and had to take it!

No worries, Mike....if the roles were reversed, I would have taken the shot, too... I know you're surprised by that!

All GOOD FUN!! Helps the day to go by!

I guess IC2 keeps a close eye on his posts as he rarely gives us any good shot! But I'm patient!

It's been a few weeks since I've been able to get off the couch 'cause of my back. So I'm finally feeling good enough to go to the shop for a few hours! I'm leaving now an will touch back here after! TTFN...

Nope! I'll be more happy on friday! I've got Pre-op tomorrow and am scheduled for surgery on L4 & L5 on Thursday morning @ 8 AM..

Since I missed most of the holidays - if all goes well - The wife and I are going to make our own Christmas on friday! I hope Santa gives me what I want most!

I did get to the shop and changed the rear axle settings, I wanted to raise the rear end as it was way to low. 3.5 hours to move 2 bolts! And I am wiped!
