Polishing aluminum - again.
About how long will it take me to polish two of these hood supports? They're 1 x 1/2 bar stock, about 38" long. I've got a buffer motor, sewn and loose buffs and white, tripoli and jewlers' compounds. I also have an electric random orbital, an air DA and a whole bunch of sandpaper wet/dry from 220 to 2000.
I'd prefer to do most of it on the buffing wheels.Jack

It goes fairly fast. At least faster than you might think. I polished everything here, the center section was a cast pc. that had to be sanded & then polished. Diid most of the sanding with a D.A. Some parts made on the lathe got polished while still in the chuck and the CNC parts I polished by using rubbing compound and a cheap pair of work gloves."PLAN" your life like you will live to 120.

The question is; How long did it take to get the Black compound off of his body and clothes....... Seriously, those look great.
What if the "Hokey Pokey" is what it's really all about?

You're welcome Mike, glad it worked out for you. Roger, it's taken a few years but my inventory of excess parts has shrunk a fair bit from 1 1/2 garage stalls to about an eight by eight space. ...
