The Ranchero
I thought that seeing as how I had asked so many questions about body work and attaching panels I should try to post a picture of the Ranchero. So far, I have chopped 3" out of the roof, replaced the quarters, and started putting the roof back on it. The truck is sitting at ride height, top of the roof is 46 1/2" high.
Power will be from a stroked Windsor going through a Doug Nash 5 speed to a 9" Ford rear end.
Estimated completion date is May 2004 in time for the car show here in beautiful downtown Madison.Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Thanks for the comments, guys. Nothing on the color yet Tech, but I am certainly open to suggestions. Thought some about a Boss 302 Stripe, or maybe done up like a Shelby Mustang but nothing definite yet. Still got a long ways to go on the body mods. Keep thinking once it's in primer I might have some better ideas, just not artistic enough to "see" anything yet.Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Once you've got it primered, take some shots (pics) from the side and front, then let some the "creative" guys here on CHR give you some computer generated ideas. I kinda like the sound of the Boss 302 Stripe, but it would be helpful to actually "see" it on your truck.

Lookin' good Dave. The Mustang "vent" in the quarter, and the door skin, are a great idea! I hope you're going to carry the "peak" out through the front fender. Just to ad some more work for you , carry the theme through to the hood and graft in the indentations from the '67 Mustang hood, complete with the "winkie" lights. Then you could do the black out stripes theme.Your Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon

Actually, Im looking at this car and thinking, Black, red pinstriping, high metallic. However, you have taken one of the copycat cars and made it a great statement of individuallity. Kudos!Right engine, Wrong Wheels

Thanks Bob and drg84. I am going to put modified wheel openings on the front, and trying for a Shelby-look front end. Finished up skinning the roof yesterday, so it's going good. Hey Bob, you ever done any car that you didn't "create" at least twice as much work for yourself that you didn't plan on doing when you started the project???? Just tired of being "one of many" at the shows and cruises.

The other consideration is of course all of one's friends, they all have so many good ideas to "help" finish a project, or add to it. When I bought the truck 2 years ago, it started out just needing quarter panels, now I'll have countless hours in it. Gotta go where the project leads you, though. Hate to be all done then have a case of coulda, shoulda, woulda set in!!!!! The only thing added to the project today was a 6 point cage in case I might want to go bracket race it some day!!!Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!
