The hood ornament and the louvers in the hood sides don't say Essex. I'm still thinking Plymouth.

There's an original dual-quad 409 engine sitting in a garage in Omaha. The widow won't open the garage since her husband died. A friend of mine knew the guy, and bought the car before he died - but with a 350. As far as I know, the 409 motor is still rusting a way.

Essex sounds good to me too, or maybe a Whippet town sedan. The grill kind of looks like a wippet grill to me.

Jack, on another forum a guy posted a picture of his radiator cap that he just had rechromed........it looks just like the one in your picture. I asked him what it was off of and here is what he said:

    31-32 plymouth and Desoto

Here is the picture he posted.

i remember in about 1984 i was a cable auditor and traveled the states all year. we were in ashland KY. way out in the sticks. my coworker and i were basicly not working and driving around. we rounded a corner and straight ahead in a field sitting up to the rockers in the dirt. it was a blue 69 Hemi Coronet, Hemi badges on the hood deck lid and interior console it had a small amount of rust on the fenders and doors, the quarters were a bit ate out at the bottom, other then that a complete car. the owner came out and said he blew it up in 1974 and its been there ever since with the hemi still in it. we asked if it were for sale, he said he never really thought about it. he said he had a 440 in the shed that was good and he would take 800.00 for the whole mess. we drove around thinking how crazy he was wanting 800 bucks for that thing. and a month later moved on to the next town. man if i knew then what i know now, what a couple stupid punks we were!!!!!!!!

in 1976 only a few years out of high school and living at home i looked at a 69 429BOSS at a car lot in fayetteville tenn .. like new car but had a knock in the motor .. 2000 bucks .. way high i thought for a car with a bad motor plus 2000 may as well have been 20 thousand to me then .. i have many more such things to relate .. i`m debating a thread of such stories but iv`e told them so many times on so many other dif sites .. iv`e been a car nut since i was 3 years old ..

Not too far from me there is a car collectors old house, second house but he kept the cars in the garage, more of a barn but concrete floors, finished inside.
I know there is an Essex and and a 1930's Buick.. few people were privaladged enough to see the cars and the others are more exotic/ unknown but are antuique. my grandparents did there yard work and my grandfather saw the cars. The old guy died and his wife never knew how to drive the cars, but will not get rid of them because they were her husbands pride and joy.. theres like 6 cars in the garage, and all were restored professionally. there still in the garage, dry storage but time will eventully take it's toll
