    New Project

I have a new project, I wont start on it till probably next August. I'll share it anyways. I have a 87 S3 Jaguar Vandenplas. I plan on laying the windshield back, and altering it into a two door fast back. most of the trim will be eliminated or balcked out. Now for the hot rod part , a 383 with five speed manual trans. is what I have in mind. The picture in my sig. is the concept.
Go ahead and tell me what you think, just don't expect me to change my mind.

neat concept! Know maybe if you could lose a bit of the sheet metal height on the nose, and get the wheels inside the wheel wells so you can drop it a bit more......Not picking it apart, just some suggestions...and maybe keep the roof a bit flatter til the aft side of the B pillar? Just some thoughts, should be a fun build.

I agree the roofline may need a little tweaking, I'm sure there will be a lot of standing back and adjusting til it's "just right" when I start cutting. however I kind of like the front end because it looks fairly agressive to me. Dropping the front suspension a couple inches is a great idea. Thanks for the imput, this will wind up being my daily driver. I plan on spending more time as well as more $$$ than any other project I've ever done. I think everyone at some point does a car that just flat defines them as an individual, one that is more special than the rest, I belive this is the one for me.

I would give the back portion of the roofline a little more loft, and curve, carry the taper back nearer the rear of the deck lid. The way it is now is too angular and truncated, fights with the fender/quarter lines.

Take a look at the Bentley Continental for inspiration. The proportions are different so an exact copy won't do, but it gives you the idea.

Your right Bob- you nailed it with roof needing a bit more loft, however I think the roof needs to terminate neer the end of wheelwell because of how long the cars is and I actually like the little quarter deck it forms at the rear.
Thanks for the Bently pics thet illustrate very well what needs be done to get it looking right. Finding donor sheetmetal for the roof will be critical.

Anyone got a Bently they dont want the roof on anymore ??

Here's a quick photo hack with loftier roof line -

I think somewhere between the two is where it will wind up. its real hard to be certain in 2D, overall perspective is what will be the driving force when construction begins.

Good observation. Even if you follow that logic, perhaps a door stretch would help balance the form some for either direction.

Definately gonna stretch the doors, how much depends on the donor glass I choose to use. The Jag doors are very small.
