I'm anxious to see how this works out; I've tossed around the idea of using a complete XJ6 drivetrain, IFS and IRS in a topless roadster. You can pick those cars up for a pretty reasonable price. I had an 88 XJ6 and I loved the way it drove and handled.

Hi Scotter, I had one of these mini trucks quite a few years ago as my every day user and never thought about doing anything like what your doing... may be because we couldn't legally do things to cars of that age then. How old has a car got to be before you can do that sort of things legally. Down under in Australia the car has to be 30 years or older before you can customize the body like that. I think that your ride will look great when you finish the project. Keep safe, John G.

Leagally I still have to have fenders and a front bumper. Because the truck did not come from the manufacture with a rear bumper I dont have to have one. All regulations reguarding lights, seat belts, and such still apply as do mufflers. There is no emmisions testing in my area so I dont really have to worry about passing a test but I plan on running fuel injection and dual cats regardless, so it should run clean. As for the fenders I plan on using some modified trailer fenders similar to what you might see on a custom motorcycle (mounted close to the rubber). We don't have a vehicle inspection program here in my area but you can still get a citation for violations. My plan is to stay out of trouble and be prepared to answer any questions.Last edited by scotter; 01-24-2009 at 12:48 AM.

I haven't been able to do much as I'm trying to build a house (and new shop) as well as working two jobs. My project is currently stored out back. Up untill this weekend when I lost the shop space I was using to a new tenant, I have however been working on my daughters extended cab Courier. It now is stored next to mine. I should have the new shop up in time for winter and wont have to worry about where I am going work ever again. I'm sure I'll take a few days here and there and do a little out on the driveway but probably wont see a lot of progress until later this year. My daughter's truck is definately priority as she needs it as a daily driver.
My daughters truck before we trimmed and tacked it together -
And a close aproximation of the finished truck -
We are using the entire drivetrain from a Crown Vic for her project - should be a very reliable little hot rod pickup for her to run around inLast edited by scotter; 03-31-2009 at 09:32 AM.

is anything happening
Have there been any progress?
I have been given a 1994 dakota truck cab and fenders...Lets see what can be done with this? I really like your setup on the truck and was thinking of doing kinda the same thing as yours if you dont mind.Kinda a running arround town and taking the kids to ball practice.
Ok gang. It's been awhile. With everything that was going on taking care of my mom's affairs and making a few needed mods to the Healey, it was June before anything really got rolling on this...
