    Color Change ???

Well I am toying with the idea of changing the color scheme on my courier project. I like all the concepts I have come up with but would like some imput about why you may like one over another. The reason for my change of heart is that I will have to put some sort of cycle fenders on because it's an 81 and would like to keep them black to minimize their impact on the truck.

I paln getting back to work on the truck this evening and should have more pics tomorrow of the progress on the chop.

I like the first one. The black masks the fact it is a modern body, and with the chrome or polished wheels, it has the classic hot rod look.

BTW, black tends to make things disappear, since your eye will always see the light or bright colors first. It is also a neutral color and goes with anything, so I would not feel that the truck has to be color coordinated.....unless you are painting the tires to match too. :-)

What are you going to do with the area in front of the doors where they meet the firewall to cover the hinges and the huge gap? Looks like a really cool hot rod project.

I am going to build some smal fenders that will extend as far as the new cowl to trim it out. there will also be a very small hood in front of the windshield to cover the fusebox/master cylinder/wiper motor.

I guess you could cut off the stock fender there at the rear of the fender kind of flush (radius cut) with the front of the new cowl. Then fill the gap with some new sheetmetal and weld it to the inside of fender to close up that hole. Cut a few louvres in it. You could hide all kinds of stuff behind there. Ignition Coil, computer, windshield washer jug etc. I like your cycle fender idea too. A 300 cu in FoMoCo straight 6 with side draft carbs would be bitchin too. Neat project!

Yes, the back edge of the stock fenders are going to be used to fill the aera between the door and front edge fo the cowl.

The front egde of the fenders and hood are being used to build a radiator shell.

As for the engine I'm using a mopar 383 BB . I had considered a strait six or even a four, but I have had this 383 for 15 years and it needs a home, The fact that it is one of my favorite engines ever certainly helped make the decision.
