Frustration
Has anybody else tried to do business with Last Refuge Hot Rods ? I've been gathering parts to build a 29 Ford RPU for the last year or so. I've had an old bed laying out on the back of my property for 20 yrs or so,and it's more than a little rusty,so when I saw one on eBay, I jumped in and ended up winning the bid. That was April 25th. Sent a check to pay the price including shipping, which cleared my bank the first week of May. June 16th, I'm getting curious,so I send an e-mail asking what's up. I am told there's a backlog, problems with the laser shear, but in a week or so they will be shipping and will call me with tracking info. July 17th, I try this again, and this time I get a phone call from the owner, and guess what he says. You got it! same story !?! Now another month is about to pass by, do I bother contacting him again, or file a complaint with eBay,or contact my state's Attorney Generals office ? Hank

Sometimes an eBay complaint will hurry things along a bit. Could also be that the manufacturer is just waiting to get enough orders to make a production run more profitable....Not saying that's the correct way to do business, just that it could be a possibility..... Not knowing anything about the company, I couldn't say whether they are out to scam you, or just very slow..... Did you check some references for the company and their feedback before you ordered? Have other customers experienced the same difficulty????? Probably just lousy scheduling on the part of the manufacturer.... Unless he promised delivery (in writing) within x number of days, doubt the attorney general of your state will do much for you unless the company is also in your state.......Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

I think they are historically slow, but as long as you have been waiting is ridiculously slow. Here are some comments from other forums:
**I bought one for my 34 ford PU, and was very satisfied, especially for the price. Just be ready to wait a while for it, as they seem to be several weeks behind.
**From reports he is on the up and up but apparently has quite a backlog.
**they do exist- legit in other words. But they are SLOW
I ordered an A frame and it took about 12 weeks past their projected date and a lot of emails for delivery. Nice work, but slow.
**I just don't understand why they will not contact us back. You would think that if they are advertising something for sale and have a buyer they would want to close the deal.
**the reason for slow shipping is he lives works in the middle of no place. i think he has to drive awhile to ship parts
**the price was Excellent. it was a ebay deal it took a long time to get it.
So, you get the idea. Looks like the quality of the product is nice, from all the comments I saw, but the most consistent remark was that they are terribly SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW, and do not respond to communications. It seems they are a mom and pop business in the middle of nowhere, not some big company with shipping and all that stuff.
But, you are more patient than me. We are getting ready to order a pickup bed from Brookville for another project, and hope they get it out the door a lot quicker. If I were you I would call and want to speak with the owner.

I did check his feedback on eBay, it shows one negative comment in the last six months, but lots of sales of other things, not the stuff he manufactures. I'm going to try getting in contact with him again. I always seem to pick the slowest checkout at the grocery store too ! Hank
I wanted to complain about this NZ slang business, but I see it was resolved before it mattered. LOL..
