Mickey Thompson Tires
I am presently running 33 x21.5 x 15 mickey thompson tires on my 57 chev.I
don't drag this car, but when i really get on it for about 5 to 600 feet then
let up on it the car goes into a wobble, (side to side). it does not wobble
as long as i have my foot into it, just when i let up. was just wondering
it any one out there has had this kind o experience with the big fat tires,
especially mickeys. I was wandering if hoosiers my be the best tire.
please comment.
thanks r dobbs, springfield, tn

What pressure are you running? If they're fairly low pressure, and you have them loaded, then reverse the load by letting off, they will wobble.Jack

Know Exactly What I Am Suppose To Run, Do You?
Hey 1badmofo, Nice Looking Car You Have There, I Was Going To
Ask About Your Bent Rear End, My Guess Would Be You Have Alot
Of Hp And Torque That Did It.

I was changing the gears and the pass side axle would not come out, after some time it come out and that was not enough for me to look sooooooo i went ahead and set up the gears when i was putting the axles back in that side they would not go all the way in so i grabbed the other axle and tried to put it in and it would not go in so i took both axles to the other side and they both went in great so i took the rearend out of the car and sat in on the floor and you could see bend very easy........ the pass side was towed in about 1/4 th 3/8 of a inch.............for the last 18 yrs i have been running a Chevy 10 bolt with 35 spline axles and a spool I am replacing it with a ford 9 in 35 spline and spool.
The short answer one axle would come out easy and it WOULD NOT go back in.

There is no comparison to the streetradials offered by both. I spun my old 40 around going thru a puddle at 35mph. I went and bought the Hoosiers and could barely turn them and no more wandering on the road either!www.adoptafriendforlife.org

I dont think Mickey's are Radials. I'm planning on changing to Hoosiers because I herd the hoosiers track much better in the wet then the M.T.'s
I'm running 15 lbs. in my 33x19.5 Mickey Thompson sportmans

on the street i only run 10-12 in my 29x18.50's if i run more they bounce like a rubber ball

Scooter's right. I ran 10-12 psi on my 72 BBC Pickup. More air causes uneven wear (hey, that rhymes) and sometimes bouncing. I thought maybe you were running less than that. Try dropping the pressure a bit.
Mickey's sportsman tires are not radials. They have a radial version out now, though.
Bigdude also has some good advice. Those MT fatties are NO good in the wet. I hit some heavy water in my '72 PU and went across three lanes of interstate and and both shoulders before I got it straightened out. Luckily, there was zero traffic.
Try the lower pressure, and make sure you don't have a trailing arm or something else loose in the rear suspension.Jack

I run 29x15.5x15 in my "A". My experience was the car would wobble at times. I started dialing in more rebound into the rear shocks and it went away. And yes, when the Mickeys are wasted I'm buyng Hoosiers! Everyone that I've talked to loves the Hoosiers.

I checked the air pressure, had 10 lb on drivers side and 12 lb on passenger
side. The 4 link seems to be in order.
WOULD FRONT END ALLIGNMENT CAUSE A BAD WOBBLE?

I don't see how a front end out of alignment would cause a wobble in the rear tires. Fairly common thing in big tall tires, bias tires and slicks, when they "unload" and wobble. You could go to a Hoosier radial four sizes smaller and have better bite and better traction....Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!
