how to install a 12v radio in a 6v car?

    Hello,

Theres anyway to install a 12volts car radio in a 6volts car without changing the complete sistem? I just wanted to keep the car running at 6volts as stock but install a radio and a lightr for 12volts.

    You need one of these:

I don't think Radio Shack sells them any more.

3 amperes is enought for a radio with cd plugged to 2 speakers (without any amplifier obvious)

U also need to be sure of the grounding of your particular car. Is it Positive ground or Negative ground.
If it is positive ground u will have difficulty putting in a radio made today.

An inverter should take care of that problem besides the voltage difference.

That would make it a negative ground.
