Call me selfish but it usually works out this way..I add something to the car (such as nitrous) and the ol' lady gets used to it ....but then again, Im not married to her

We have a show here that happens every couple weeks. It usually has a great turnout, and is a wide mix of ages and types of cars.....rat rods, muscle cars, street rods, pro streets, antiques & restos, imports, sand rails, T-buckets, jeeps, new image cars, etc. I've never heard any negative stories yet.....but in any large crowd, there will always be some anti establishment, rebellious, anti social, and paranoid personalities. I think it is safe to say that in the last 25,000 years, no large group was ever made up 100% of perfectly balanced and highly social people. Go expecting to have a great time....be respectful of others....and ignore the irritants.

Also, I found out years ago that if your drag your car out of the locked garage, it will start getting scratched. It's part of the cost of enjoying it. :-)

Guess I must be going to the wrong shows!!! We still have a good time around here and just ignore the idiots that are there to do nothing but spread hate and discontent. One of my many talents is being able to put out a good insult!!! I can usually run most of the dissenters off!!!! My favorite is, "Well, let's go look at your car, then we'll all know what perfection looks like". Usually they "forget" their Hot Rod that day!!!!!

Car shows, cruises, and rod runs are way too much fun to let a bunch of idiots ruin my day!!!!

I use to do corvettes, muscle cars, pro streeters even antique wood boats (I still do bikes & a 62 ford uni truck) but the one thing that I've yet to comprehend.....is why parents let their little rug rats run loose like uncaged anumals.....I was taught to NOT TOUCH when I went to a show...I guess that doesn't apply anymore because of the liberals not letting us wack our own kids hands or ass when they are unrully.

As for the funny looks.....F%@K THEM. This is suppose to be a fun hobby...not some gold chain convention with a cry baby leaning up against the front fender.....please...

These vehicles are made & originally made to be driven......SO DRIVE!

    Forget about the looks.

I now only attend events that are free. The reason why you might ask....to continue the hobby of course.

I never understood why I paid to enter my car for someone else to pay to see it so some knucklehead said I did a good job on.

I love burger joint car/bike shows.....I like open field car/bike shows......

If I want a $10.00 trophy I'll get one my self. This thing we do is suppose to be uplifting & enjoyable.......lets keep it that way.

Enough of my rants.......I think someone just key'd my car....

I have never had a car in a show, and only go to a few shows. around here I don't notice people climbing all over the cars, the cars usually all have some sign about don't touch me please type thing. I'd say something to the kids and the parents if they were on my vehicle. yes scratches happen, but people need to be polite. my dad would have smacked me ugly if I had done something like that to any car.

I think getting pissed at people over what they do to their own vehicle is unjustified. sure, you can think they are an idiot, you can think it is ugly/pointless/waste of money/poorly executed. but you shouldn't say that to them, keep it to yourself, tell your friends, point it out to your wife to show her why you are so much better, but leave the poor guy alone.

I'll be honest, I don't like the way those pipes look, but it doesn't piss me off. besides, everybody that does something you find ugly just makes a point of reference for you when it comes to the things you find pretty.

I like burnouts, don't have a problem with them, think more guys should show off a bit, I just don't like it when guys that obviously don't have the juice get out and try it. I laugh so hard when I see some guy in a rice burner with a fart can jump on it and it rips that big fart sound but hardly moves (relative to a real hot car).

The other thing shows are lacking, and I think this is just a reflection of the times and women not being interested in cars, is really hot women. there needs to be more women dressed provocatively out there enjoying themselves.

I dislike A LOT of things, my wife said last night there probably isn't enough paper to make the list (I told her I dislike paper shortages). I don't like rat rods, 99% of studebakers, digital gauges, pebto bismol pink etc. :-)

Mmm welll I must just have a weird bunch of "car guys" in my area. All the responses so far seem to not quite match up to these folks. Its different than just disliking a car. Heck MANY cars at the usual carshows are about as appealing to me as a 400lb woman with a beard and bucket of KFC. I dont find my self acting like an ass about it though. I just move on in hopes of seeing something that took a little thinking outside the box.....Maybe their lives just flat suck and they are still just trying to fit in (even if they are up there in the years). Maybe I should feel sorry for them. Either way, Im still going whether they like it or not!

I love KFC, if it were extra crispy she'd get my attention. I think I am pretty good about looking at something and finding what I don' t like and looking for what I might like. something could have 95% ugly and have one great idea on there that I like or might use later. I see them in magazines too, I see a few things on a car that are good, then some of the stuff I don't like. I saw a chevy truck the other day, the only things I liked about it were the wheels and the crate motor in it, but I still gave it top 3 at the show (In my personal scorebook) because I liked those two things that much.

Enjoy yourself, if others choose to let little things ruin their party then they are just shorting themselves.

Hey guy...if you are getting people' pissed' about your car- maybe you are going to the wrong shows. The larger the show, and the less traophies- the more people will appreciate your car for what it is.
I own a mild custom 56 Chvey (you know that car you didnt like? ) and years ago in the late 90's I would attend all 55-57 Chevy shows with it and get HORRIFIED looks from people because I 'ruined' a perfectly good stock steel car.

    It was fun.

Jeez, I go to car shows all the time here, and its FUN!!!! Sure, people ask the kinda dumb questions that civilians ask, but they are there because they like hotrods and customs. 99 percent of people do respect the cars, and do control there kids and I constantly hear "Now don't touch the cars, Billy, and do NOT even think about standing on the running boards!!!" People like to talk to the car owners, and ask---"Did you RESTORE this yourself??----Are you allowed to drive this on the street???----How fast will it really go???----how many horsepower is that engine???----How come you didn't put those side thingies on your hood that cover up the engine???----and those are questions that you expect to be asked. But why on earth would you want to "piss people off". People come to car shows and cruise nights to be entertained and see something they are interested in, and like.----Not to be pissed off, intimidated, or insulted by ill mannered louts!!!

I go to alot of cruise ins and car shows here and we have a really good time , never have kids crawling on the car and really never had anyone give me an atitude .
Just like Brian said the kids are watched by there parents and never touch any of the cars (cause if they did I'd kill them) Just kidding.
I really like watching the kids faces when they look at the cars , it reminds me of when I was a kid .
