what makes the carshow folk pi$$ed?
These folks are so-called "car people" and yet many of them seem to be more anti-hotrod than Hillary. I really dont see why my car would pi$$ people off....unless if they hated cars and just own a 210 or a z-28 because they think that other people think its cool. Maybe Im so far out of their comfort zone of being like everyone else that my car freaks 'em out? Its seriously the inside joke now to go to car shows and see how many crappy looks we get. Who else runs into this prob?

I do constantly...Im not sure if its that Im only 27, or if most people at shows buy their cars and know nothing about them....I personally like to meet people at show to try to make friends/contacts, but 80% act like pricks...
When I was 17 I own a nice 69 Z/28,and went to alot of shows...Not alot of people wanted to talk then either????
I feel ya,your not alone

Im sure the 7200rpm open header revs and the burnout that I was begged to do by a non "car-guy" as I was leaving the "show" the other day made the Dennis Gayge wannabees want to vomit Actually this was quite out of character for me to be playing in the car like this around alot of people..Last edited by bcrector; 09-08-2007 at 11:34 PM.

What peeves me is parents allowing their kids to go rampage at Car Shows and especially at Cruize Ins. They are putting their hands all over the cars, stepping on painted running boards, etc. The kids have no respect and no understanding of the time and money invested and the apple prolly doesn't fall to far from the tree! Another peeve is kids on bicycles at a Car Show.....cringe. Sorry if this is a little off-subject

I dont understand why people would be pissed at your car? Now on the other hand I can understand it if you reved loud and burned out. I have been attending street rod events for close to 30 years now, and I havent ever seen anyone get pissed at someone over their build. Now what the owner does in their car is another story. From my experience, if you have regard for other people, and have respect for them and not act like an child, all is well.

Yellow 72, ha I know what you mean. All I need is a 55-57 chevy or 67-69 Z-28. I have a very hard time figuring out what is soooo attractive about these cars. Dont get me wrong, I like them but they are about as common as a Corrolla and all seem to be done up in the same fashion. Do the folks that freak about these cars listen to the same song over and over again as well? T buckets are relatively common as well soo, I did what appealed to ME as well as try to make it unlike any other bucket out there!

I've never had people give my bad looks or talk my cars down at shows and have been going to them for many years. I do get alot of kids who climb all over my truck(wrecked one of my running boards) and the parents just said there sorry. Yea right to the cost of a couple bills. I have to laugh when I'm leaving shows and everyone(young kids) are down by the road yelling light them up and I smile and take off about 5 mph and look back and their giving me the finger TFBKeep smiling, it only hurts when you think it does!

Everywhere there is a bunch of people, someone is doing something that someone else doesn't like. Movies, the mall, church, junior high, work . . . why would a car show be any different?Jack

WE just had a similar discussion in the shop this morning. People just aren't friendly or even nice anymore. Getting old sucks!

Ok gang. It's been awhile. With everything that was going on taking care of my mom's affairs and making a few needed mods to the Healey, it was June before anything really got rolling on this...
