    Exclamation A car named Lowdozer

Some more pics of my lowdozer. Got a better idea of what im doing now too. Screw hp, work on torque. Picked up my alluminum radiator and dual 11" lectrical fans w/ shroud. Taking if off the pulley should help some. The rotating assembly in the engine now runs strong as all hell my dad says. Runs good on regular gas, and she kinda hunkers down and leaps foward when you romp on it. (not bad for a 2v). Keeping the rotating assembly stock, going with the main girdle. He also says she runs just fine on premium.

Putting a 2x4 dual quad on it, the edel heads, dual spring valve springs, roller rockers. Hooker super comp headers, too. What size pipes you guys recommend? Also, went with something I saw in another thread and bought an 8 qt oil pan. What are some tricks You've done to get what you get out of your 390? I really want this car to haul some arse, despite her weight (4120 wet).

These are some pics from Lowdozer (cars name). Others are pics of the car and parts im hangin in it. (army mechanincs do not install parts, we hang them.) no clue why that is, it just is.

Do the Edelbrock heads match those tall ports on the earlier manifold?
I was trying to remember. I think the 66 and up had a more rect. port. I
had some 66 GT heads port matched to a medium riser tunnel wedge man.
years ago. You may want to ask Edelbrock. I think they're medium riser
style. Dave or Denny should know.
    good luck, Ron
    btw...nice car

Make sure you have the right cam to go with all those other parts. An engine is a system, and one misfit component will kill performance.

Thanks guys, I appreciate it. Thinking of ditching what I have going cam-wise, someone mind pointing me somewhere where I could get a complete hyd roller system? Cam, lifters, and rockers? Point me at whatever works, please.

Also, thats why im asking people what they have done to build a STUPID FAST 390, so i can try to emulate it. This is my first project, and I'm only an army mechanic (we just replace parts, not fix them), so I'll be asking alot more in depth questions once i get into this thing more.

Thanks for the compliments man, and i know she looks awesome, with alot less flaws than most cars half her age would have (69). I'm talking mostly under the hood modifications. Want to make it a retardedly fast car.

No, if you were me, you'd do it just like I did.

Comp Cams sells all the goodies you need to put a roller cam, rockers, and a good strong valve train in the FE's. Kewl old Merc!!!

Your right Ron. The Edel head intake ports are 2.06 x 1.38 MR size. The 2x4 LR intake ports are 2.34 x 1.34. So there will be a slight port mismatch and a lip. If your going to keep the bottom end stock I'd not worry about the girdle either. Use the money elsewhere. If you want a torque monster get a 428 crank or even better Scat 4.125 or 4.250 stroker kit somewhere down the line.

    That's a great looking car.

Don't forget to change that PCV set up in that rear shot pic.
What if the "Hokey Pokey" is what it's really all about?
