55 bel air question
Hey guys im new here. my neighbor is planning on selling his 55 belair. its been parked in his backyard for about ten years. it was in working order before it was parked. i was wondering how much i was looking at spending to have back in working condition. he told me all it needs is all new fluids, seats and tires. will i need to rebuild the engine and tranny since its been sitting for so long? thanx in advance

best thing you can do is have a mechanic go look at it .. you can count on the brakes needing a complete re-do .. the fuel system will surely be clogged .. the trans should be good if it was good to beging with.. the motor mite be ok if it isnt stuck .. you wont know about it till you crank it up..just have to get her going and see ..iv`e used up all my sick days at work .. can i call in dead ?

Squirt some oil in the cylinders before you start it! :-)

In this state IL it would need all new brake lines wheel cyl master cyl . Trans lines if /auto trans . Fuel pump and line . With drain gas tank and rebuild carb . I like to buy car that sat for 10 years . Lines are cheap !

put in a fresh batterie and squirt some wd-40 in the cylinders and pull the plugs , disconnect the gas tank and pour some gas in the carb see if it will turn over like hotrodpaint sugessted...after ten years dont rrust the gas tank yet.
