This is the look that I'm going for ... less the nice paint!! Plus my exhaust will be exiting the lower section of the front fender ala outlaw 10.5 drag car.

Ah .... lamin8r ... that was part of the reason I sold a pro street 66 chevy II & my 62 Unibody truck ... you just can't fake a REAL paint job like it has. Ya just can't find a 65 year old body that rust free.
Paint is ... DONE and hopefully when my kid gets it he'll not ruin it with paint either.
I'm using all the paint money on chassis parts, AN fittings & the all aluminum interior parts!!
I'm trying to design a dash that'll go with the inside ... I have a couple sketches but nothing I really like ...yet.
This thing will be .... way over the top.

Paul, Don and I were talking about your 46 the other night and how nice the sheetmatal is, even in the trunk. You are starting with such a clean car.
BTW, did you know I sold my 46 to Don? He already bought a TCI rear parallel spring setup for it and the other night we went and picked up a 5.0 Mustang engine for it. Don has the financial means to do the car better than I would have, so it will be nice to see it done right.

I can dig the financial end of this game ... super that it went to one of the boys. From what they've turned out so far that'll surely be a winner.
Ford in a ford ??? what a concept .... I thought about it but had all those SBC/BBC parts from the super gas/pro street cars left over. I'm even trying to pursuade a friend to sell me his LARGE bbc for the coupe. It ran a camaro just under the 990 mark. We shall see. I still have that sbc with the trick flo heads & turbo stuff .... what to do ...

and people said that about my tyre choice on this:
They said red tyres would never work .... I think it did. The new owner did too ... 2 weeks after it was completed.
But then again ... what do I know about design work?? Those are my handmade exhaust, seat, oil tank & axle block covers:

Cool Bike! Like the tires actually, cool different look. Really neat!
Yes the Ford in a Ford thing seemed good for me, but if I had had a SBC built sitting there waiting to go in I would have probably done the same and put that in it. The SBF is longer and requires a fan to be mounted pusher style on the front of the radiator for clearance. A SBC actually fits better in there. Going to be using a Mustang 2 front IFS setup too. I am going to post a thread in the "build logs" section soon.
Like pops said, I can't beleive how clean your coupe is. WOW!!! Talk about rust free.
Looking forward to your progress. Don Jr.Don Jr.

Thanks Don (s),
I appreciate the kudos on the bike. The guy that ended up with saw it on the net & drove down from Md. to pick it up ... overnight!! I cleared almost $6500.00 on that sale when bike were hot. It's one that I hesitated to sell as it pulled like a frieght train & looked kewl - I thought.
Don, Jr. - I am waiting on the start of your new project ... I sa the pic of the car prior to your Dad picking it up. It's a nice piece too.
Are you going to use a t5 or an auto??

He's going to use an automatic. I have an AOD I've offered him but he isn't sure how it will tuck in compared to a C4........won't know till we try it. I figured since he wants this one as a long distance comforable cruiser the AOD would be nice on the highway.

Paul,
I have read that the c4 is a great tuck and fit for the stock 46 crossmember so I am 80% sure this is the direction I will go.
I went on the TCI website the other day and they have a fantastic dimensions page that gives full dimensions for most popular transmissions. It claims the AOD is only a tad longer than the small bell housing c4 (like i have in my T) the only differences is the transmission mount is 2 inches further back compared to the c4. which would put the mount further back in the x member. Like pops said we do have an AOD out of a Grand Marquis in the shop. Might be worth bolting up to my 302 and seeing how it fits.

Ok gang. It's been awhile. With everything that was going on taking care of my mom's affairs and making a few needed mods to the Healey, it was June before anything really got rolling on this...
