Sold one & bought another...
I've been driving my daily 1962 Uni ford pick up for almost the last 2 yrs. & have enjoyed it to the max.......
I also have been slowly working on my 66 chev II C-dan pro-streeter......
Well....I sold the 62 and found a cherry rust free very original 1946 ford coupe. It already has a posies 4" dropped front axle, new glass & rubber (to install), needs brake updates - to discs, has new headliner but original seating, was originally blue - paint is all but faded to primer, has red steelies (like every other street rod out now) which will be changed to maybe 20's & 18's, needs the rear dropped about 6 inches - posies dual leaf kit to be added along with some air bags, has original V8 flattie with 3 speed - which will get an extra carb & T5 trans & open drive......
All & all the exterior needs nothing & as far as I'm conserned IS finished.
Due to scheduling.......and no brakes, right now, I have to go pick this up in Ks. the first week of Jan. 08 (work schedule).
I can not wait to get this into the driveway.
My 66 is also in the mix of being worked.
As soon as I can manage to figure out how to post pix I'll update.

The car is actually so solid it desirves a resto.......but anyone can do that! It'll have no rust repairs at all.
I've cut up vehicle that were more rare than this so......
I'm a bit torn right now.........pro street or pro touring....... I remember when Fat Jack did his orange fatty in 86 & I fell in love with it.....time & distractions kept me from getting one - till NOW!
All I can say is it will be LOW. It will run on some steamrollers. The flathead will stay. The paint is done. Wheels are up in the air.....right now.

The 46 sure looks good. Great potential for anything you want to make out of it. Red steel wheels are always in fashion but usually with trim rings and baby moons. I agree with your choice for new wheels, though. Pro street ain't my thing so I wouldn't go there, but it's always owner's choice!. Keep us posted on the build.Bob
A good friend will come and bail you out of jail....but a true friend will be sitting next to you saying..."Damn....that was fun!

To my eye, the '46 sits just about right as is. Also (and this is just me) I can't get my mind around monster wheels on street rods. The proportions just don't feel right.
Just tossing in my drei pfennig's worth. However, it's your car, and it will be a great ride. The only person you have to please is you. We'll be waiting for more photos.Last edited by Henry Rifle; 11-21-2007 at 12:06 PM.

wow great find......with the flathead in it too....nice...more pics
we use to cruz my uncles 47 coupe around when it had the stock flathead, my cousin drove cuz i wasnt old enough then....hahaha...love those cars
i remember Fat Jacks orange 46, my dads good friend, who i consider my uncle, is good friends with Fat Jack who set his 47 coupe up, i believe Fat Jack got that 46 to fly at 150mph about 3/4 down the quater mile track.....crazy
Fat Jack still builds really nice cars out in Elsinore.....and still cuses like a sailor.....If it aint broke, fix it till it is.

Not sure if you've got any experience driving a prostreet car. The reason that protouring evolved is because former prostreet owners wanted to both drive AND enjoy their cars.Your Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon
It's much easier to promise someone a "free" ride on the wagon than to urge them to pull it.
Luck occurs when preparation and opportunity converge.

Thanks guys......
I've been an old pro street car driver from the first time around......back in the 80's...and one of my current projects is a 66 chev II C-dan pro streeter. That's why the thoughts on the pro touring "style". Having owned a 1934 ford truck & a 1946 ford truck the street rod bug bit again after I got the 62 Uni. Just didn't have needed room for the wife & my 2 year old. If I had to pigeon hole my "style" it'd be resto-rod with a pro touring-street look that is fully functionable for daily driving along with X-country trips with no issues.
One of my favs was a 1940 cpe. but they have skyrocketed out of my financial view. I always dug the fat 1946 look & Fat Jack's rendition was the mac.
I'm going to try & keep my budget under 12K total. We'll see. I gave 6K for the car so.......it gives me so coin to update some things. If anyone visits clubchopper & knows my motorcycle work (as PACO) will know I'll have some kool one off parts made & will be done by yours truely.
I'll post some pix when it's in the driveway & I start changing things....

Sweet old coupe, the flatty makes it really cool, looking forward to seeing alot more pics. I don't think the prostreet and the flathead go together but thats just me. I am more about handling."Sunshine, a street rod and a winding beautiful Ozarks road is truely Bliss!"

The coupe is a bit further along on the front end so motivation will not be a limitation (as was/is with my 66 chev II c-dan right now) for building. Plus.......it's already running & needs brakes to be functioning. Everything elese can be done as I go.

Well......slight progress....... in as much that I found a buyer for my 3/4 finished pro street nova. As much as I like to have ALL the toys in the world......I, personally, must be a realist. Therefore after listing the nova on a few sites - a deposit has been made & the buyer, from TX, will be here this upcoming weekend.
Now back to the progress......after looking at the car in many different angles....I've come up with a few things I've decided apon:
1. The straight axle & related components will be replaced with a MII coil over set up & R & P
2. Steering will be replaced with drag race style tube with "maybe" the original steering wheel
3. Flathead will be replaced with the SBC that was slated for the pro stret car.
4. Transmission is going to be.............??
5. Rear will be replaced with Moser 9" hung with coil overs & wilwood disc brakes. Rear will be set up with Koni's & 4 link.
6.Been looking at simplfying the dash & eliminating factory set up?? Not 100% yet on this.
As I get this all started I'll post some progres pix.
I'm trying to stay within my original budget of $12,000.00 including purchase of the car. We'll see how close that'll be. Ebay here we come!!

Well.......after a short layoff from car working I got back to it.
I've removed the flattie, gutted & cleaned the interior & truck area Plus I've ordered all the suspension parts needed. I also picked up a set of early, correct 4.5" wide steel wheels - which I plan to run with skinny wide wites.
I ordered all the front & rear suspension from Chassis Works. It includes a FAB9 rear, 4 link w/ coil overs, front cross member, A-arms & front coil oversw/ r& p steering.
I've sold off the complete flatty, 3 speed trans & front & rear suspension parts/pcs. to a brother HAMB'r out of Fla.
My sbc will be pumped up with a 67mm T4 turbo backed by a 5 or 6 speed trans. I'm in search of a third member posi or locker right now (if anyone has a spare to sell).
Here are some updated pix......
Up in the air for some exhaust/gas tank removal:
The gutted interior:
Hood removal:
clip removal:
Engine removal:
Parts should be showing up soon. As soon as they do I'll post some more pix.

Looks like you have a great start going. Wish my 48 ford was as complette when I got it.
Ok gang. It's been awhile. With everything that was going on taking care of my mom's affairs and making a few needed mods to the Healey, it was June before anything really got rolling on this...
