The debate of evolutionary climate change vs. man's influence is far from clear, and far from over. It seems to me that only a fool would claim that man has NO impact on the global environment. Also, cleaning the environment is a good thing.

THAT being said, people put a deaf ear to FACTS such as : an older vehicle with only PCV for emission control, in good running order, will burn cleaner than a new vehicle with faulty emission controls. Or the FACT that older vehicles ( + 30 yrs ) are a minority of the 'population' and contribute less pollution ( as a percentage ) because they spend less time on the road, and are maintained better.

But I have one last FACT.. ya better be ready to either convert to an alternative fuel or park it. Especially if Al Gore gets his way.

Hey, I hear Mars is warming also, and that the sun has significantly increased sunspot activity, but I'm sure Al will figure out a way to blame us ( man ) for that as well.

Ya know what? Not all the states are falling for "the sky is falling" chicken little crap..... I guess I'll never understand why, if life is so bad and the government so imposing and taken over by whomever where you live, you don't just leave!!!! Or at least get active with the organizations who promote common sense and support a balance approach to ecology. Many areas of the country away from the population centers of the coasts don't go in for all these stupid games... Get out, change it, or live with it....

OK I have a solution to this unlike your foolish comment, that just parrots the media hype.................... you sell your car, sit home and worry about the sky falling and I will drive and enjoy mine. Hows that? everybody happy,
Instead of griping and trying to prevent others of their fun actually do something about it yourself, live by your words stop polluting my air, Put your money where your mouth is as they say.

California had ther "rolling 30" law that exempted cars over 30 years old. As each year passed the exempt year moved. In 2003 a 1973 was exempt. They simply stopped the "rolling" part of it and I guess its 74 or 75 where exemption ends.

First of all, there ain't a 75-78 car that's worth owning anyhow. Go into the 80- the pisspoorest car decade ever. Wanna own some hunka crap from that era? By the time we go to the 1990 we're looking at ECM control of much of the car. Pulling the plug on exhaust emissions only of a 1995 car will totally screw up every other operational aspect of the car since it's all tied together. The cars run better, faster, harder if they're tuned clean.

The buy back idea was never meant for specialty cars even if some goof in your state capitol sent EVERY pre 1975 owner a price they'd buy for. and as was mentioned none of us drive but a couple thousand miles a years in the hobby cars. The buy back was meant for the asshole that thrashes a 1979 Datsun 56 miles to work and back as it smokes its ass off.

As for the climate well, cows are a far bigger problem than most know. Cow farts and belches are full of methane and pollute! They are actually studying- with you tax dollars- ways to produce catalytic devices for the cows' buts and mouths.

The only thing that Al Gore actually produced was the Global Warming business. Every schmuck has an angle to sell you some crap that will probably do absolutely nothing but will scare you into buying it because they explain it's good for the enviroment.

BTW for those of you old enough to recall, they were positive we were headed for a glacial cooling period back in the 1970s. Climatology is the change over centuries or eons not decades. Weather is change over the short term. Yet you're listening to these dildos tell you how in 75-100 years the temerature wil rise 3-4 degrees. Projecting on such a short term basis relative to planetary trends is weather not climate!

It's part of the flim flam of "scare 'em to death and sell'em some eco-shit."

Sounds like a personal problem.. But for the cat workers they wherent aware of the payscale difference until they brought the workers fromt the higher scale in from another city to work side by side. And in the city of Decatur it is the corp giants that keep a cap on the wages made by laboers.. Which is a huge far cry from any other companies outside the city..
I went to a plant to weld in Iowa a adm plant.. Contractors there where all union and base pay was $24 hr.. Back in Decatur its half that with no unions allowed in the plant ..
