I think that the Highway Traffic Act is the same just about everywhere, and it states that "nothing shall impede the foreward vision of the driver". If your local cops are a bunch of dicks, then you will probably be ticketed for it, or at the very least be told to remove it. If they are not dicks, then you might be okay .

in most states, there is a maximum height, check local and state laws to see what it is in your state.

For what it's worth, as far as I know here in PA the max height is 3 or 4" for a scoop.

If it's going to be nothing but a cop magnet, why bother???? A cowl induction scoop or a ram air type scoop will do as good or better a job getting cold air to the carb... Running something borderline legal or just flat illegal on the street is like waving a red flag in front of a bull. Anyway, I think I'd be for finding out before the cops gave me a big old fat ticket for it!!!!!

I agree 100%. That's why I'd only run a factory hood and a nice, quiet muffler on my daily driver. I've given enough money to the state of PA

So the question becomes what about blowers???
I think cars with video and dvd running would be far worse then a nice cool blower or tall hood scope jumping up from the hood. I mean after all the driver is at least looking in the right direction .
Just one other on this, can not see idea, what about jacked up equipment, those boys can not see the ground 10 ft in front of em, could be more, run over a vw and never know it except for a minor bump.
I have two brains, one is lost and the other is out looking for it

I tried googling Michigan Vehicle laws for you and only found things like lighting and suspension requirements, nothing I could find about body mods.

I think it is like anything else, it all depends on the mood of the cop and the way you are driving. If they see you are not being a squirrel, they generally have bigger fish to fry, but if you are driving recklessly or speeding around, then it becomes a different matter.

I think Michigan is a fairly liberal State from what I have seen from magazine cars from that State.........and street rodding/hot rodding is pretty big up there too.

the scoop I have is close to the one on the stang.I think ill give it a try and hopefully get by with some gentle driving(at least when the cops are around).hopefully they would just give me a warning.I would take the scoop of but it kind of is part of the paint scheme.ill try and put a picture up when I can thanks for the support

If it restricts your vision, and your carb is almost a foot and a half below the hoodline, then you might want to think about removing it. Does it actually look like it blends in well with your body style or does it look just stuck on there? If you like it great, if the law doesn't it will get expensive. Hank
