Girl Power, and the 23 T-Rod
Hey guys,
Just wanted to drop a note and let you know about the progress. You guys have given me some great input on keeping this project going in the right direction.
For Christmas my niece found an old photo of my Dad and the 23 T and had it framed for me. It made me realize how I need to proceed. I really have to keep as much of the original look of the car as possible.
With that said, the project has been launched.
I recently had surgery on my right arm, so I am limited in what I can and can't do. I was lucky enough to get my two nieces and their cousin to come give me a hand today.
Michele 15 years old (short one)
Leslie 18 years old (tall dark hair)
Sissy 13 years old (blonde)
They busted their butts for me today. I handed them tools, told them what to take apart...and they jumpted right in.

Here the engine is coming out.

Engine is out.
I have to run the numbers to confirm exactly what it is. It is a 327 or smaller. I am sure the heads need to be upgraded to hardened seats. I am going to freshen it up, put in a MUCH smaller cam and get it back looking like new.

And....the finishing pic of the day.
These girls really worked hard. I was surprised they stuck with it, trans fluid in their hair and all.
We wrapped things up when I showed Leslie how to rotate the tires on her bronco. She got a kick out of the air impact.
Next, I am yanking the body and sending it to my Mom's where she can begin to fit new upholstry. After she has the bugs worked out of that, I can bring it back and start the body work. Not too much to do.
It looks like my major bucks will be in any replating on the chrome, powder coating...and ceramic coating.

Wow, What a great crew! Double benefit from that day, think how much they learned, and how far along your project moved. Hope the girls will stay involved throughout!
PatOf course, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong!

shocks
69myway...I responded earlier about front friction shocks. I got a new digital camera, so I'll attempt to include a picture of the set-up on my 27T. (I'm just learning how to use the camera).

I have found a source for these thanks to all of your support. I have two options. One is to weld on the stands, then put the shocks on...the other is a "bolt" on kit that requires drilling and adding threads to the frame.
I am seeking these two out and trying to see which is best. I am repainting the frame anyway...so the welding is not a problem.

I think it's great your doing this. It's the younger group that's going to keep this hobby going.
Keep us updated,The only dumb question is the one you don't ask..
Ok gang. It's been awhile. With everything that was going on taking care of my mom's affairs and making a few needed mods to the Healey, it was June before anything really got rolling on this...
