    National Street Machine Club

I got a mailing from someplace called the National Street Machine Club today. Anyone know anything about it? They charge you 12 bux a year in dues, have a monthly magazine, and supposedly send you free car gizmos throughout the year. It looks like an OK deal but I thought I'd ask if anyone knew anything about it.

I thought it was an okay deal, too... but then I ended up in the book club and dvd club and all sorts of unsolicited books and crap started showing up... I was not impressed with their magazine and they were constantly trying to push their "life membership" deal... (only $250 and you get this cool jacket!)

Granted, I did keep a couple of the books, usually because I didn't get around to sending them back in time... They'll send you keychains and stickers out of the blue... My thoughts are it is just a scam to get you hooked into their swag... The free products I received were a cheap duster and a cheap car wash mit.

Let's just say I was happy once I got the whole thing cancelled.... save your money to renew your subscription to car craft, hot rod, etc..

    Your mileage may vary...

    Two cents,

    Chris

Amen skids! Although I did send everything back, I found out later through the state attorney generals office that if someone sends unsolicited material to your home or business, you are NOT required to send it back.

Thanks, guys. I figured it was something like that. I'll keep the free sticker and trash the rest.

I dont totaly agree. I am a Life Member. You get some really kool stuff as a garage tester. The last item that I got was a Weiand Intake Manifold for my sbc. No cost to me. Tried it and went back to my Edelbrock set up. The Weiand is for sale in the box. The book deal and dvd deal are optional. You can get out of getting them, no body does any high pitch sales. The web site is like a lot of others. You have you regular posters who form a friendship, then you have others who are not that active. But through this site, SMC, RiceHatersClub, OldSkoolRodz I have found a lot of usefull info, and made a few friends. So one way to decide is check out there web site.

I've been a member for 3 years and I've recived some real nice stuff to test and keep. The leather jacket granted is not the best but what the heck.
Keep smiling, it only hurts when you think it does!
