It is speculated that the starting price will be $60k, the conv't is normally +$8k. The Z07(500 hp estimated) will probably be $100k when it comes out the following yr.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm!!
Don, the pictures you linked to must be "spy" photos of the real deal as it will come from production. The one that Silverado has put up must have been the concept car. These situations kinda drive me nuts. I remember, as you probably do, the excitement that came from the introduction of the Stingray in '63. It was such a dramatic departure from the '62, and was near universally admired. No doubt it was likely the result of two very strong personalities within GM of the time. Zora Arkus-Duntov and Bill Mitchell. Apparently GM lacks that same level of enthusiasm within it's homogenous corporate culture. I had hoped that Lutz would have injected some testosterone in their decision making, but apparently not.
As I compare the two I can't help but like the concept car better than the coming production unit. The more curved roof line, the body color windshield pillar, the hint of side vent lines in the door, the lack of the dated Kamm rear, the narrower grille, the chrome door handle, and the wheels fully filling the wells. It just has a unified yet aggressive look. And it's a leap forward!
It looks like corporate cowardice diddled with the lines and details to make the C6 look similar to the C5.............too much so for my tastes.
I have pretty much the same problem with the 2005 Mustang. From the moment I first saw the auto show concept pictures it grabbed me. The styling, evocative of the '67 2+2, is probably what did it. But it too has that "integrated" yet aggressive look. When I saw it in person at SEMA it just confirmed my feelings. Now that pictures of the production version are sneaking out I'm less enthused. Again, it looks like the Ford guys got cold feet and massaged the details so that some of the crispness is gone, and hints of the current model's styling are lingering.
I have the feeling about both these cars that perhaps they'll grow on me. But, damn it, the concepts didn't have to! Maybe I'm just not their target market.Last edited by Bob Parmenter; 12-31-2003 at 01:27 PM.

60K for the base car??? Way too much money for what ya get, another Vette that looks like everyone else's Vette. Prices like this make hot rods more appealing, for way less bucks you can have something unique. Even the new Mustang at half this price is a stretch. Guess I will just keep building my own.Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Have To Agree With Bob
Since '68, Corvette's have not been visually appealing to me. Would love to own a 67; either convertable or coupe.David Lowell
Thank you Roger. .
