S-10 hot rod,anyone got one?
I have been thinking an s-10 pickup has everything a hotrodder could want, good brakes, stick or auto, bolts right in,v-8 bolts right in,air, cruise ,tilt, they are a dime a dozen, modern day model T,I did some searching and found lots of people thinking the same,my idea was move cab and motor back for better weight distribution, shorten box or build new short, narrow box, I could easily meet that $3000 goal people keep talking about. Has anyone done this and does anyone have a pic of one,the only reason I can see for not doing it is might be ugly but it would be fast, light, cheap,my definition of a hot rod. I would bet when people started pulling "unneccessary parts" fenders, hoods, bumpers, ect. off of 20's and30's cars to make hot rods, "citizens" probably thought they were ugly too

There are a ton of the S10's and Isuzu Hombre trucks out there (same truck, different badging) You can find one with a blown up engine super cheap too.
My neighbor at my shop has an auto repair business and he has an s10 with a 350 in it. Little thing scoots pretty well, and you can get every piece you need to build one in kit form.

How do they get them to hook? Even my Jeep truck with a mild 5.0 can go up in smoke if I don't soft pedal it off the line.
I know I see these S10's running good times, so they must have a way to do it aside from slicks.

I don't have one but know a guy at the tire shop that has a 6-71 blown SBC in his tubbed caged and shaved S-10... I would consider it a hot rod at least in a sleek pro street kinda way. Wasn't really pushing the performance that much running about 12 flat here at Bandimere but very nice looking truck...
Good luck with the project especially the $3k part

I got a friend who has a 39 Chevy sitting on an S10 chassis, with a sbc for power. Beautiful car, but not surprising it rides a little stiff. Like a truck.Bob
A good friend will come and bail you out of jail....but a true friend will be sitting next to you saying..."Damn....that was fun!

Built a Blazer for my kid 4 years ago. sbc, 700R , 3.55 Rear and tons of body repair. Our budget was $4k but, he chose Viper Red paint and sent us over by $200. These things can be built really nice for cheap. Good luck, send photos.

s10 build up
Hi Rabad s10s are fast becoming a hot rod classic. I started with a long bed and shortened it to a102 inch w/b just in case I decided to put a 41 willys coupe on it (dixie rods.com) but I came by a 1940 dodge cab that after much reworking will go on the frame. I will make a short bed for it . probably use a305 sbc thatI have .Should keep it under the three grand mark. Good luck with yours FrancisFrancis Blake Its not an opinion I am just right (I wish)
A "skip" = a dumpster.... but he says it's proper english??? Oh.. Okay. Most of us can see the dating site pun, "matching" with an arsonist.. But a "SKIP? How is that a box? It must all be...
