They're still out there!
Let's see if we can get some discussion going on this one!
Maybe it's the moderate climate, but while I've been here in Vegas for the past three weeks, I've seen quite a few cars that would be of interest to the folks who hang here.
Taking morning walks within a couple miles either direction from our house I've seen the following :
at one house; '40 Ford deluxe coupe
'40 Ford pickup (I think it's his daily driver)
Model A coupe rod in the garage
all three were California black plate cars
next door; Model A coupe body in front of garage door
'56 Buick Century 2dr hardtop beside garage
'62 Buick convertible next to that
two doors down; '63 Corvair convertible
elsewhere; Mid fifties F-100
down that street; a yard full of '53-54 Chevrolets (about 20)
all body styles represented including a convertible in the garage
then there is the '54 Chev pickup, looks like a daily driver
also a '56 Nomad wagon
1/2 a block away; '63 Nova SS hardtop
'38 Ford pickup, both beside the house
Driving by this house on saturday morning I had to stop, he had his '36 Ford 3 window in the drive, next to his '65 Galaxie convertible. The Model A he bought from the original owner in 1947 was in the garage!
at another house; '36 Ford pickup in the drive
another; '46,7,or 8 Ford coupe (could only see the roof)
Mind you, these are all complete cars (except for the A body), in reasonably good shape, not hulks, most look to be driven, at least occasionally (well, maybe not some of the "family" of Chevs)
Then in garages I've seen open just around the corner from our house a '38 Chev coupe, and a '40 Ford pickup project.
There were a number of mid '70's vettes around (not much interest to me). Just a lot of neat cars, just in this small of an area. Lord knows what else lurks behind all those 3 and 4 car garage doors (besides the usual clutter of excess)!
Surprisingly there is very little cruise activity here, their first organized cruise-in is this Friday (unfortunately we leave Thursday). But there sure are a lot of car freaks! Where ever we drive the '56 wagon we always get the thumbs up and smiles routine.
Anyway, let's hear from some others with similar observations.Your Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon
It's much easier to promise someone a "free" ride on the wagon than to urge them to pull it.

A beautiful day...
in the neighborhood...
Not too much to be found around my neighborhood... A few vetts, nothing vintage thought... A high shcool kid around the corner has a 70 Challenger that he and his dad have been fixing up for a year or two...
The next street over one of my Neighbors has a very nice 69 Chevelle SS that I see him drive when the weather is nice... A few hoses down from that there is a nice Fad T in the garage, but I have never seen it on the road and have only seen it out of the garage on one occasion when the owner was washing it... A street or two the other direction their is a very nice all original 57 or 58 GMC 1 1/2 ton Pick up that sits in the drive, but looks like it could possibly be a driver... A few houses down from him is a 40 Chevrolet Sedan that has been sitting for years and has been moved once or twice, but I doubt that it runs and is in need of some work...
That is about it in my "hood", buy like you say I rarely see these cars at the local cruise nights or any of the other "gearhead" gatherings...

Bob,
Strange for sure. The last time we were down there, I can't remember seeing that many street rods around there, and I look for them wherever we go. Heck, sounds like you died and went to classic car heaven.
Just around my neighborhood tho, we have a couple of droolers, one is a 23 T and and the other a mint 65 Mustang.
Well you must be in the air by now and just about to run into this big cloud formation, that means you are just about home.
Take Care,
Larry M.

Hey Larry,
It's the darndest thing. Of course up here in Washington most of the stuff is kept inside if it's worth a darn, so we don't see them unless they are at an event, on a sunny day joy ride, or gettin' a bath.
Down there, they even leave them out. This morning before we left I saw three more: a '57 Golden Hawk, a '57 Chev truck, and a '56 F-100 (lowered just right and 50 Merc tail lights to boot).
If we're ever down there at the same time I'll take you on the tour, it's something to see.

Well, if you liked the one about cars in barns, here's a different twist on the story. This from a couple years ago. Last month when I was there most of these rigs were still in the same locations, though the guy with the '36 Ford and others is gone. Any other examples of yards full of rod material?Your Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon

Well, that makes for an interesting week. A few days back a seven year old thread pops up, never got a response back then, and now it's into it's second page. Then this one that's NINE years old, almost to the day (okay, shy a couple weeks). The 56 wagon is gone, we don't have a house in that neighborhood anymore, and as mentioned, many of those respondents are down the road. Just to put that original post in perspective somewhat, this site was less than a year old at the time. Back then, a few of us originals posted up whatever we could that seemed germane to stimulate participation.
There were some pictures attached of some of the vehicles, but past server dumps killed those. However, it is still an interesting topic, at least to me. These old cars pop up in some of the darndest places.Your Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon

Unc Bob, your assignment is to go back to the old neighborhood and walk those same streetsa dnd find those same cars....or find out where they went......how many are still in the same garage?
A "skip" = a dumpster.... but he says it's proper english??? Oh.. Okay. Most of us can see the dating site pun, "matching" with an arsonist.. But a "SKIP? How is that a box? It must all be...
