Pie Cut?
Pardon my ignorance, but what is a "pie cut" when it relates to hoods and trunk lids?Leo Life is not measured by the breaths you take, but by the RODS that take your breath away.

Check out Don's thread on the second page about half way down, where they sliced the roof in three places to stretch fit the roof here:

To expand, using your example of a hood, a long tapered section (resembling a piece of pie) is removed, and the remaining welded back together. Usually the purpose it to lower a portion of the panel, in this example the front of the hood, to give it a "sleeker" look. It's similar to sectioning, except in sectioning the cut lines are parallel.Your Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon

back int the 70's we started to pie cut a few things when sectioning. hoods look pretty cool on fat fender cars with a pie cut . added to the rake look. saw a 49 chevy with a pie cut section job. looked pretty good but was a ton of work. guy spent a year or so just on sheetmetal work. don't know if he ever finished it since i haven't seen it around.
