What a hoot! Man, that's classic! You have to admit it was pretty ingenious.Too bad we didn't have video cameras back then; I'd love to see that.

When I work on my cars, I always use the bumper jack. but I put a jackstand under it also, I lower it so both support the weight of the car.You don't know what you've got til it's gone

It WAS a hoot Jim. We could never believe it when they did it.Worst part now that I look back was that those cars being junked were pretty clean cars ranging from Model A's to '50 Fords, and everything in between.
What the heck was I thinking!!

Crazy
About 20 years ago we where running a Super Pro car twice a week.
One week we went to a drag-strip near Bethany Missouri and there was a car sitting with a hyd. jack under the rear-end idling about two feet of the ground with no jack stands under it.
Let's just say we did not pit beside that guy.

I get all my half finished project from their widows, so I'm happy to lend them a 4x4 or a rock............LOL
