That does not seem to be the case here....thank you God!
To broaden my rodding experience, I also joined other sites just to see what was going on elsewhere in the world of rodding. Among others, the HAMB, Hotrodders.com, and OZRodders (Aussie). I have run across many people from these sites who are also members elsewhere. Not surprising that we all share a common intereest. I think it is good to be able to see what others in our hobby are doing. Creativity is not exclusive to the USA. (I just love the Aussie 38/39 Ford slopers, damn shame they never built them here )
I have never enjoyed confrontation, so I don't go places to create a problem or give a false impression. Sure there are some real A-holes out there, but with time and maturity, you can learn to spot them and avoid them. If you can't then growing thick skin may be a warranted.Bob

Same as H.A.M.B., but without the periods. I am sure you know what a period is, or at least know someone who does.Bob

Around here we kinda call them traditional rods or hard core rods.
Would be like calling everything pre 48 (no matter what it is or how its done) a street rod.
Just another side of the hobby I guess
I agree on the post of the radicals- the HAMB has changed in just the past year. Not bad- just changed
I also frequent about 10-15 other boards as time allows as I always find good reading and great pics and cool people.Last edited by chopshopcustoms; 04-25-2008 at 05:09 AM.

Like it or not, the words Rat Rod have become synonymous with any old car in some peoples minds. People who don't even know what they are looking at will come up to you and say "Oh, nice rat rod you have there." I get people walking up to our shop door quite often and they will say "You guys are building some rat rods in here, huh?" Those two words have become a part of our vocabulary.
Depending on my mood that day, I will either shrug it off or try to educate them (nicely) that not all old cars are rat rods. I have said to someone "no, they are hot rods" but they usually look at me with a confused look on their face.

just build and call it what you want at the skill level you have (as long as its safe) and enjoy, scr_w others opinions , personally I see the term "rat" as dirogitory, but thats just me. If you want a RAT rod then thats what you have. HAMB , both good and bad people + nothing good or bad to say. Just mostly great info best taken w a grain of salt at times and a bit over zelous at times w their opinions. Too set it strt tho, I have seen SOME of their "rat rods" built safer than some Street Rods as well. Gold chainer to me is a buy a built or a check book rodder who trailer them all over to nickle and dime shows to "show up" the locals and rob the gold , big deal , you know the typeLast edited by Dgas56; 04-25-2008 at 01:44 PM.
