Bucket w/out bed?
Does TP sell the T-bucket w/out the bed?
Also, if I bought a TP chassis, what would be my choices for getting it low??
Thinking something like this or this...can I get there with a TP chassis?
Thanks for all your help!"Lowliness is next to Godliness"

Yes they do. As far as frames go you might be better off starting from scratch if you have the tools and ability, or the next best thing friends with tools and ability. As the daddy said check out the project 3k thread from itoldyouso.

That one with the gold wheels doesn't do a thing for me.
You won't find a stock frame that will get you down that low, you need to build your own. In fact, a stock T bucket front end setup won't get you that low, you need a combination of a dropped axle and the spring mounted very low on the radius rods. I have no kickup on the front but the back is kicked 12 inches.
As the guys mentioned, you can look at the Project $ 3K thread to see the how the whole thing worked out. I'm flattered that you like the stance on mine, thank you.

Oh, my body is a Speedway. In my opinion it is a lot heavier layup than the TP like my Son has, and much straighter right out of the box.Last edited by Itoldyouso; 05-01-2008 at 07:06 AM.

I just got started this morning on the project 3k from the beginning and the site went down. Later when it came back I got up to page 12, I hated to walk away but had some out side things to pick up. If anyone is interested in building a hot rod, street rod or any type of home build they should check out this build.
Don, you could have turned this build into a money making venture but you gave it for free, your time to document this had to be very time consuming. Great job, and I still have many more pages to go. I’m glad I did get to see it now but I will still follow from the start.

Hehe, I actually have one of those West Coast Choppers skull caps that I bought at Turkey Run. Nice on those cool nights. Plus, people keep mistaking me for Jesse James.
One thing I would like to point out............in the picture he posted you will notice my car is all wet, it had been raining. It shows that real hot rods are made to use, rain or shine.

I am building one right now! Its a 27 touring body chopped in half. I know where there is another right now here in the Denver area (if you want steel).
Boy, the headers in the second photo seem a bit short!Scott

Gettin Smarter
OK, original thought behind buying a complete chassis was gettin on the road in a hurry. However, I want it low, and I have now learned that the mods needed to get it down low would negate most of the 'stuf' that would come on a pre-built package.
Anyway, still think I can do it fairly quickly, and will do it piece by piece from the ground up. Possibly a frame only to start, then do all my mocking-up as suggested. Dad and I can fabricate most things, so I'm not worried about that, just want to get a rod on the road...

Thanks for the help guys...I am getting smarter.
Orig. idea was get a 'kit' type deal to get on the road quick. However, I gotta be low and gettin' there would negate alot of the stuff I would pay for in a complete chasis.
Dad and I can fabricate most anything, so I think I will start with a bare bones frame and build it form there. Still gonna be done alot quicker than my 50 coupe!
Special thanx to itoldyouso...Glad you stayed at the Microtel at Billetproof. The orig. inspiration happend right there!"Lowliness is next to Godliness"

You are welcome. We almost didn't get to stay at the Microtel, we had confirmed reservations but when we got in they had overbooked and we had to take the last room available.......a SMOKING room! And when I say it was a smoking room, I mean it.........everything reeked of smoke.
If there is anything I can answer along the way in your build, just let me know. It's good that you and your Pop can do this kind of stuff, makes it more fun too. If I can offer one word of advice, use 2 x 3 x 3/16 wall tubing. It has a nicer profile than 1/8 thick stock and the additional thickness is nice for drilling and tapping for non structural items like line clamps. I'm anxious to see yours come together, if you need any measurements just yell.

A "skip" = a dumpster.... but he says it's proper english??? Oh.. Okay. Most of us can see the dating site pun, "matching" with an arsonist.. But a "SKIP? How is that a box? It must all be...
