    Ford brakes

OK I have a 9 inch Ford rear with big bearings I think. I want to put disc brakes on it. Does anyone know what in a junk yard will work on it? The reason for this is that it's going to cost to much to repair the mess someone did by putting miss match standard brake junk on it. Took car to brake specialist and even he can't figure how to fix it. Other than to change the rear out. Don't want to replace rear. It all started by someone taking a Ford axle and putting a Chevy a bolt pattern on it. Then drilling Ford drums to fit the axle. So now the drum has 10 holes in it and the wrong shoes and parts were put on it. Thanks for your assistance!!

Try Ford explorer rear disc set up---package comes with discs and parking brake available from most rear end companies or ford motorsports dealers was arounf $300

The rear my Son is using is a 9 inch with big bearing ends. They supplied Ford Expedition rear brakes (complete setup) with it. If Expeditions came with discs that might be an avenue for you to look at.

    ford brakes

I will try to get a picture of the brakes this weekend. It's at the brake guy's now. Thanks for the input about the different brakes. My only problem is I would have to change axles again or redrill drums. The brake guy told me the drum is really weak if you redrill it. Why someone would put a Chevy wheel lug pattern on a Ford axle is beyond me. Messed everything up. Thanks!!

That's how mine is, but it's in a Chevy and was built that way in the first place....not re drilled. The guy probably got a "good deal" on some wheels with the wrong pattern....then found the cheapest way to make them work.

Happens more frequently than you would imagine. Some people just like taking short cuts.

OK, took to the brake man and even he can't figure it out. I guess I will have to look into disc brakes for the rear. He said he can't get enough pressure to rear brakes. To make them work right. Thanks guys for the help. it
