Just an update. Dan placed the order today for the unassembled body. Surprisingly, it can ship UPS ! The bed he bought from them previously came UPS too as it was unassembled, but their stuff goes together like an erector set, everything fits like a glove.
We should have it in a week or two and are going to start making a plywood platform to square it up on while we assemble it. I'll post lots of pictures of how the assembly process goes. Thanks to everyone who responded with suggestions and comments.
If it wasn't for the info Bob gave us, I would have never thought of buying it in pieces.
