    Ford Rear Brakes

I took my 31 to the brake man and he can't even figure it out. Seems he can't get enough pressure to the rear drum brakes. I guess I need to look into the disc brakes on the rear of the car. I have the new style big bearing 9 inch rear will try junk yard for a bolt on. Thanks!!

Don't toss them out yet, lots of us have drums on the rear that perform perfectly. You just have some problem and it could be in the master cylinder, bleeding, lines, residual valve, etc.

Start at the source, the master cylinder and make sure it is truly putting out enough flow from that port. Maybe you have the ports reversed, or the wrong master cylinder. I bet if you spend all that money for discs the problem won't go away. Just make sure your whole system is matched and working properly.

I know but even the Brake Guy can't figure it out. Never had such a mess before.

Rear drum front disc setups are nice. Brakes are pretty simple for the most part, do as Don and Denny recogment, start at the master and work your way back. Also was this working before, and now not, or is this a new setup, that isn't working. Sometimes the proportioning valves can cause this.

OK, the car is home just spent over $200.00 at brake shop. The brakes are now even worse that before. He replaced front pads the softer ones and messed with pedal adj. on it. Car has way to much pedal play. Now that it's home I can work on it and take pictures. Don't want to work on just now. Because I feel like taking a BIG HAMMER to it! Thanks!!

Did he measure the line pressure at the rear with a guage?
    Is your master cyl clean??

    are the lines good???

Brakes are pretty simple, and most things other than normal wear are own induced---when was the last time they worked good or did they ever???
