Talking Trying to Make a Plain Jane Look Hot

I really like pre-war and post-war cars up to mid-50's. With their big rounded features and large fenders and I really like hot rods and gassers using these cars as their bones. But my latest acquisition is a late-70’s truck with no exterior fenders (styleside) and few rounded features. (It was a solid truck, a new engine, no rust and a very low price!)

The truck is already modified with a stoked 350 power-plant, and TH400 tranny., a complete new interior and mass sound system.

So my question is; have any of you modified or seen modified late-70’s trucks and cars, other than low riders (cool but not my style)?

I plan on adding a low profile scoop, lowering the rear a bit to get a “gasser-look”, painting her blitz black with a red painted bed and red roof with yellow accents and modest pin striping. I might add a funky hood ornament or other cosmetic crap to make it unique. But I am really looking for something to make this old gal look “mean” and as fast as she really is.

    Any ideas?

chop it, channel it, section it, tub it. All, some, or one....

Or, shave all the handles and trim and make everything smooth. Sometimes less is more...

As for the blitz black......no comment

maybe some off the wall exhaust pipes coming out of the sides would be a nice touch to get the look you want.

    That's a great idea!

I thought about vertical exhaust at one time but too much trouble and more "corny" than "bad ass"!

Get it low, get some fenders from a dually to add to the rear quarters then fill them with huge tires and some good looking rims with a lot of offset. Some of the later dually fenders are a little sleeker than the ones from the 70s. Or you could narrow the 70s vintage ones a little if need to get the right look. Smooth the tailgate with some nice pins or graphics. Put a matching or contrasting hard tonneau cover on it. Put some of the stainless grill pieces on the front.

There are a ton of aftermarket parts to customize these trucks. You may be able to pick some up on EBay or Craigs List too.

Of course, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong!

Rifle rack in back window, big white mudflaps, blue "Hoor lights" in the corners of the front window, big chrome swan on hood with pink, "see thru" wings, 6 or more clearance light across the top of the cab at the front, (extra points if they are purple or green),--you did say "Country boy Badass" didn't you??

JMO, but blitz black is not hot....Just an attempt to be in style????? Kewl or hot has nothing to do with copying what others think is hot, but by setting your own standards and doing the work necessary to meet or exceed them....

You may want to decide whether you are wanting "hot" or "socially acceptable"////

I would suggest giving it a nice stance (lowered with a slight rake) and put some nice wheels and tires on it. Clean it up real nice and drive the Sh*t out of it. Country girls love a pickup.
Give me something to cut with, I'm going to build a Hotrod

I am not sure what is so wrong with BB, but the reason it strikes my attention is that it is CHEAP!
Currently the truck is yellow flat base coat (not clear coat) and it looks like a High School Pimp-mobile! I am after a more of a country-"Death-Proof" theme!

A 7" chop and a 7" section will change the look of your truck .....

Go ahead and tell me what you think, just don't expect me to change my mind.
