What was this car or truck?

I found this in this woods around here and I am wanting it. I wonder what it was, it has a rumble seat step on the back right corner. Also it had this plate on the firewall. I have other pics, the whole frame is there including the suspension. I think it's a early buick coupe maybe, didn't fisher make thier bodys?

That is good reading and I now know It could be an early ford, but what was the year they started putting rumble seats in them? Here is a pic of the dash., and no I do not have this yet, I am still researching who's it is.

I'm pretty sure the first rumble seat (at least in a Ford) was the 1928 Model A.

That firewall construction is similar to my dad's '46 Chevy truck.

It also has a spare tire holder on each fender if that is any help. Notice too that there is no cowl vent. It does have the same shape firewall as the trk cab but much older I think. Does anyone recognize the gauges? They are very simple and small.

The dual-mount spares pretty much tags it as a higher-end type car in my opinion. Like you said, Buick or maybe Caddy or......who knows. I think there have been something like two thousand manufacturers come and go.

It is a cool riddle though, I have to admit.

Just on a whim, I googled the job number. Son of a gun, it came up. It's a 1931 Chevrolet Sport Coupe. Scroll down about halfway on this page and there it is, 31558.

You should have enough information now to search titles at the capitol and find out the last owner. Might even be able to chase it back to the original bill of sale.

WOW...I wish I could find something like that laying around the desert out here. 31 Chevy's are sharp cars. Good luck!

Wow Tech, that is very cool! What do you know, I thought that the rumble step ment something in the back. Boy they had plain dashes didn't they. The body is gone from the doors back but may be around in the brush there somewhere. I wonder where the vents were? Very cool, I am going to see if I can research who had it last.

I had occasion to drive back east a couple of years ago and was astounded at the old tin I could see from the main highway east of Albuquerque over to the Texas border. If you can see that much from the highway, just imagine what's lurking offroad. Not only is it there, but also pretty much rust-free except for surface rust. That's high desert and it's dry as a powdered fart out there.

Actually, a fun weekend to me would be to tag up a trailer behind the pickup, load up a couple of dirt/enduro bikes and take off to NM. Go as far as possible on roads and unload the bikes for excursions where the truck won't go. Stay in a motel room in some podunk little town, take off at sunrise and return at sunset. Yep, I've talked myself into it. Looking for a couple of pre-67 VW beetles anyway and it has all but dried up around the Phoenix area. No pun intended with "dried up".

Sounds like a absolute blast! Brings back memories as a kid on vacation in No. Cal. with my father chasing old tin. We actually found and bought a 41 Ford PU with a 302 Chevy from a crazy old hippy for $600.00. Man...that was better than Disneyland. Good luck finding a Dub or two.
