Roadster32 nice work. I like the candy apple metal flake. It has that 60's early 70's retro look. You make painting it look simple, but I know better. Again, nice work and welcome to CHR." "No matter where you go, there you are!" Steve.

Well, it's 7AM and Dan and I just got in from the shop. We haven't pulled an all nighter for a while. We got his engine and transmission painted and should be able to start assembling it later today.........much later. Right now we are going to crash for a while and tonight I'll post some pictures.
Thanks for asking...........can't remember last time I was this tired or this sore.

Wow, can't remember the last time I slept til 2 PM. Dan is still sleeping, may make it in time for supper.
We worked with Imron for the first time last night and like it a lot. We sprayed everything gloss black and they look great........at least through blurry eyes at 6:30 AM when we wrapped up. Dan found the blackest black I have ever seen, it is 1950 Chrysler black. Couldn't get the stuff to run and we laid on some very wet coats.
I'll post some pictures if I can get Sleeping Beauty up in time to go over there.

Glad to see someone else gets to sleep in Steve. Sorry that you have to head to work though.
We didn't make huge progress today, mainly because we were still tired, and also the paint was dry, but we wanted to let it cure a few more days before we start handling it. Dan got the brake lines run in the front section of the frame so that the engine wouldn't be in his way to lay them out. Now the motor can go in for the final time (I hope).
Dan also spent the day polishing some of the aluminum engine parts. They are all new, but sitting around for 3-4 years dulled them a little, but buffing them is bringing them back. They should look pretty good against the all black engine.
Me, I spent the day napping in the shop office. Cranked up the a/c and slept for a few hours. Yesterday really took it's toll on me, and tomorrow it's back to work. Anyway, here are a few pictures of the engine and other parts, and also the stainless brake lines run in the front.

Wow that is shinny Black! After all the time you guys put into this build, have Dan given any thought to naming his RPU, i.e. like "the Black Widow" I think his car deserves a title of it's own, Kind of like 3k but bigger! Sort of like Roth use to do!" "No matter where you go, there you are!" Steve.

Thanks Kurt. Yeah Steve, I think a name would be great. Maybe "Possessed" would be fitting after all the goofy things that have happened to it along the way.

looks very good .just air out your shop out good that stuff is bad to be breathing i seen guys get sick from it.stuff hangs around for a long time in your body . i have been sick from two part paints it is no fun . the good thing about imron is its somewhat thick stuff not to bad to spray or hard to find at one time it could be mix off a enamel mixing bank. as long is it stays sticky and do not hammer it till you last coat. the ppg durethane is some very bad stuff and over all abit harder to paint for me but a true polyester poly urethaneLast edited by pat mccarthy; 05-04-2009 at 05:52 AM.

We named my 68 Mustang Damien! It was forever making wierd noises, I finally pulled the engine and tranny and replaced it with a used one, 6 months later it threw a rod on the highway. The idiot light came on with the first clunking noise!
As for my truck, it will be the S.S. Persaverance(spelled wrong I know!)" "No matter where you go, there you are!" Steve.
A "skip" = a dumpster.... but he says it's proper english??? Oh.. Okay. Most of us can see the dating site pun, "matching" with an arsonist.. But a "SKIP? How is that a box? It must all be...
