Tall deck chev BB427's are they worth building.
I have the opertunity to pick up a couple tall deck BB 427's are they worth building? They have steel cranks 4 bolt main caps and great rods but they need a special intake so would i be better off using a 2 bolt main 427 with a regular deck height.Lifes a race first one to the end loses

You can stroke it to more than a 502. GM currently makes a 572 based on the tall deck block, and others have stroked them to over 600 cubic inches. Did the 800 ci engine mentioned here recently use a custom cast block or did they stick with the standard dimension tall deck?

427 tall deck
i just got a march 2004 hot rod magazine. it has a great article on the 427 tall block. they are worthy of building, with an advantage of a 4.50 stroke, compared to a 4.25 stroke on a standard deck. they have a parts list with prices and the vendors to purchase from.
