NHRA Museum
Our car club was invited to the anniversary party for Coker Tire co. 50 years, and Honest Charley, 60 years. It was a fun night because there were only a few people invited. Got to B.S. with the old guys Tommy Ivoe and that era of guys. So I thought I would share some photo's, I took these with my phone so the quality is good on some and not so good on others.
Going threw the museum brought back a lot of memories. If you ever get the chance to o threw it I think it is well worth the time.
I threw in a couple of other shots. A bunch of us meet for coffee every Saturday morning in a favorite part of town. Then some of our club members cars at the museum. I hope you find this interesting.
My friends yellow roadster before the accident.

Ken, great pics. I grew up in Chattanooga,Tn, home to both Coker Tire and Honest Charley's Speed Shop. I bought a '54 Ford coupe when I was 15 for $35, the first parts I bought for it came from Honest Charley's, a small chrome air cleaner for the 2bbl carb and a purple muffler (was that a Thrust muffler??).
Later I became good friends with Charley's 2 grandsons, Bobby and Charley Espy. I helped Bobby build a '68 Camaro big block in Honest's garage at his home. Honest, as we called him, was such a cool character, I used to love to hear him tell stories from back in his day, like the time he was at a party in Hollywood. He always had some of his Honest Charley Speed Shop logo stickers in his pocket and would leave them stuck to various places. At this party, a gorgeous blonde was making the rounds, saying Hi to everyone, when she said Hi to Charley and turned to leave, he had a sticker ready in the palm of his hand and patted it on her butt. She walked around the party all night long with a sticker on a butt cheek that said, "Powered By Honest Charley's". A story came out in an L.A. newspaper a day or so later about Marilyn Monroe at a party with a decal on her butt!!! Honest had a copy of the article papered on his garage wall. Too funny.

Ken, you are right, the NHRA museum is a must see if youre ever in the pomona area. they are always changing exhibits so you can see something new whenever you go.
My car club (Stags of Ogden, Utah) have had an exhibit there for many years. I believe you can see it in the glass case between the Speed-Sport roadster and Melvin Heath's purple dragster inone of your photos.
Thanks for the pictures, looks like you guys had a great time.

Been there many times. Definately a must see. They also have the Twilight Cruise there. That's another must see event!
Nice thing about it- they are rotating cars in & out all the time so it seems fresh everytime you go. They are suppose to have the women of NHRA display up. Did you see it Ken? I'd like to see that.
Ok gang. It's been awhile. With everything that was going on taking care of my mom's affairs and making a few needed mods to the Healey, it was June before anything really got rolling on this...
