Who Built This?
I was watching the Barrett Jackson Auction and (im sure anybody who was watching will remember) this beautiful 38 Lincoln Zephyr came up and went for an eye opening $400,000. I guess the fellow that built the engine is Dave Tatum??, but do you know who built the car?. Apparently the two bidders that were on the phone were Walter Payton, and Jay Leno, but some dude bought it for his grandfather.

Beautiful pics Diamond. I remember seeing this car at the Good Guys Car Show in Puyallup a couple of years ago. I looked back in my car show photos and I had pics of the car but not of its ownership or builder.
On the size of your pics, whew, I'm on a dial-up sooooo it took a long time to load them. Your 1st and 3rd pics were .bmp files and are about 4"x3" but the others are about 16"x11" and over 300kb.

Hey thats odd someone else who saw it at that show. Personally the whole time I was looking at it I was thinking how that v-12 flatty would look in my roadster!"its better to rule in hell, than serve in heaven."

I'll tell you why im interested in this car. Since i've been a teenager i've always liked the 41 Willy's and for the last few years i've been researching a build. But as im finding info im also becoming aware of just how many are out there. I want something different in a real steel body original and i wanted to use the 41 willys body to do it. It seems to me this body style is just been done to death, and even if i build a kick ass project it won't make the statement im looking for. So i've been looking into similar body styles, lately i've been looking into a auburn boattail speedster, but just can't seem to manipulate the lines to what im looking for without ruining the original lines. The late 30's ford bodys have also been done to death. Although i like this style of body, i like what they did to this zephyr. I saw what foose did with the chevy master, nice job, but looking for something a little different, maybe more along the lines of his manhatten. I have looked at the zephyr body before but for some reason did'nt see it as what i had in mind. However i like this one, and may be able to see what i have in mind a little easier with twhat these builders did, it does have a willys stretched kind of look.

Heres a 40 zephyr.
Ok gang. It's been awhile. With everything that was going on taking care of my mom's affairs and making a few needed mods to the Healey, it was June before anything really got rolling on this...
